I don't know where to begin . I played like 10 different games today . EVERY game I jumped into there was no commander . I'm sick of playing commander because I'm learning to fly . I went all day without a commander and our team got it's ass stomped round after round after round . I was typing and begging for someone to go commander - nothing . So i finally go commander and do my best to fly and command witch isn't very easy specially with my button set up and lame joystick . But low and fucking behold the very second I go commander some fuckstick casts a vote to kick me as commander .AND FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER the vote worked and I got booted as commander .  I singled that bitch out and TK'ed him the rest of the round till he left lol . Love this game but hate humans . Anyone else have game after game with no commander ?

Maybe you played on no-commander servers only? This sounds somewhat strange, cause nobody would otherwise start a vote against a commander...or you played really lame...

Nope . As I said I played as commander - attention to detail brutha . I dunno it was just weird . Playing for 2 hours without a commander and the very second I go commander the vote was cast . What is so hard to understand here ?

Blocking the use of the commander position would be against the TOS, so if this was a ranked server, they shouldn't be doing that.

I don't usually take the commander position, but will apply if no one else does.  It's kinda hard to fight without UAV support and the commander calling out enemy team members not in the UAV scope.  Not to mention supplies and arty when necessary.

On most of the servers running bigger maps - 64 players - you will find commanders.

The  quickest thing to get a mutiny vote however  is to be commander AND fly a heli/jet....
If you really want a good commander or be one yourself, commanding AND flying does NOT go together, with the exception of 16 player servers/maps.
A lot of the players forget commanding is more than launch arty; you have to spot enemies, repair assets, place UAV and stay alive as long as possible etc.
Problem on those smaller servers: people may not be used to have commanders or their-play style.

I normally command when I'm eating ...

but i think the main reason why ppl dun command is because they dont get high scores (even after the 2X bonus)

Not games that I play.  I can't count the number of times that a medal is stolen from under me by the commander.  Since I rarely play support, i get most of my points from kills.  And as such, I'm rarely the top scorer.  I'd be placing 3rd in scores for both sides till the game ends, but because about 3-4 of our teammates scored good, the commander also racked up points.  The more team mates that score high on, the greater odds the commander will get the gold.

It also depends on how active the commander is ... you'll get commanders sitting back and doing jackshit.
But you've gotta admire the commanders that actually run onto the battlefield and phyically support the rest of their team. They're the Commanders that actually deserve the medals.

a commander should sit somewere were he can do his jop, why should a commander go into the fight, hes got nothing to do there, he doesn't get points for killing with his guns or anything. a commander should support his team with the commander stuff. UAV were it should be (most teammates) supply who ever asked, arty on large groups of enemies, scanning and point out enemy that couldnt be on UAV but are near friendly flag. sometimes it can work a commander in a tank or whatever, but mostly when i see that a tank is empty i just drive it to a teammate and scream GET IN, and i hop out and do my jop ! :p

Agrees only with that on 64 player maps...maybe 50 players.  Anything below that a commander sitting in the back doesnt get enough kills with artty and typically half the team is retarded.  Plays commander a lot, medal a lot, kill a lot, and has a pretty good win/loss ratio going.  At the moment Im going for the War College ribbon...which is a bitch.

If noone goes commander in the first couple minutes I'll take the position, no matter what else I'm doing. I may not be able to command effectively while flying, but even slapping down a UAV whenever its available and dropping supplies for people who request it is better than nothing.

This almost never happens though, because I play on 64 player servers most of the time and usually 1 of the 32 players on my team thinks they can command.

Despite the fact no one was commander, I pretty much always do a munity when a commander (even if they've only been one for a minute) is in a tank or jet. Commanders feet should always be on the ground. Leave the vehicles for your troops. Don't try and do both.

Im never commander anyone more.  I've already got my Expert Commander badge and my Distinguished service ribbon and medal.  No point of being commander.  Im working towards other awards.  I guess others are thinking the same.

I'm just getting into Commanding, and I must say, I really like it.  I can get a nice balance between sitting back and commanding everyone and punching the enemies in the face with a shotgun when they come and try to take out my assets.  I usually hang back by my HQ as an engineer or AT.
It just gets frustrating when you command and no one on your team gets into squads or when your team constantly loses and doesn't listen to you.

I like commanding too but not for the points but for the fun of developing a strategy and adjusting it as battle goes on. It is especially fun if you do have some good squads who play with you... I go always as engineer during that since I can repair the assets myself instead of wasting supplies for that.

What can be really frustrating is when you got an admin in the opposing team and that bitch kicks you after his team has been pushed back to the carrier in Gulf of Oman....

Funny thing is.... if the WCR would be 3:1 W/L Ratio for Commanding only, I would get that thing in no time since I do have around 6:1 W/L as commander (yes, I am keeping personal track of that).

I often find it hard to get the spot, says someone with a higher rank has taken the position even though no rank is higher. When I do finally get it I cant stand it more than 3 rounds, then I start to get squirly & have to go shoot someone again.
Im allways the engineer so I dont waste valuable drops on the assets, depending on the map ofcourse.
I find it challenging & dont allways make the right desicions, but what the hell there is allways next round.

Hello to all,
I like to be Commander because I'm quite old now (44y) compared to main players on BF2 and I've got more fun playing tactically with some good teams rather than trying to save my ass against teens with 10ms reaction time . Anyway, sometimes, as a Commander I find unfair to get a Gold Medal instead of a grunt fighting all the round, I think that both would be more equitable, but that's the BF2 rules...
With this post, I would thank all teams, I was honored to command on BF2, great job guys
Cheers
KF.

Wow.. took the words right out.  You must be a great Commander. The only thing people hate when I command is the constant 'enemy infantry spotted'

Is guilty of often commanding from tanks...however if someone else seems halfway decent with it has no qualms jumping out and letting them drive.  All I know is Ive played way too many times where someone bitches about me being commander in the tank...I get out so they can use..and 5 minutes later the same dude is asking why the enemy has our side's tank.  The simple fact is very few players are willing to go all the way back to the base that usually has the tank spawn point...I dont mind going back, commanding, driving, and killing a couple badies before either a) getting blown up, b) giving it to another person on my team, or c) we simply win.
Dont know much about commanding via jet, pretty well stays out of them when I am...though can command very well while piloting a black hawk...once again prefers to simply be riding around and helping assist with captures between artty drops

Constant infintry spot not bad...just aslong as it isnt the same one every 2 seconds......unless ofcourse its the only one left which I LOVE to light up red over and over.  Unfortunately where I play do to the region I live in there are very few english speaking people...yet they get the point when you point at something over and over again.

Yup,same here,I'm commander very often recently because I wanna get my expert command so I can quit doing it,already got the Distiguished service ribbon.
I think when I finally get my 10000 command points I'll have my 100 hours of command for the distinguished service medal.

I can fully understand casting a vote on a commander who is flying especially when the uav and atrillery have not been used in like 5 minutes or so and your team is loosing flags because of it . But I'm talking 3 rounds without a commander at all . So WTF is the difference if I was commander and flying at that point . At the very least as I was flying I was dropping UAV where needed and helping somewhat , perhaps not quite effectvie as hiding and doing my job but surely better then nothing at all . It's just funny that no one noticed there was no commander for 3 full rounds of getting our ass kicked even though I asked " who is gonna be commander !?!?!?!?!" and as soon as I'm commander there was a vote to kick . Ahhhhh - noobs - gotts lov'em .
