.. you couldn't get it because Newegg is sold out or they raised the prices out of your limits.

All you need is time and you'll get it! When something is released, there is a *huge* rush to go and buy it, and with Intel's price drops today - that is exactly what happened. Companies realized that people will pay extra so they clonked the price up. In a week or two, when the main rush is over, and companies realized they have overstocked, they will lower the prices. Most likely even lower than the original price they had on it today.

So, what am I trying to say? Wait a week, maybe two. So your friends might have those components now, but every day you wait - the market will change somewhere. If you were to wait another fortnight - you have no idea how cheaper you'd get them for..

Unless you don't have a system, you should just wait a bit before you buy (if you missed out today)!

That why when they came out...Last year...I went the other way...AMD AM2. My brither in law bought the E6600 $499 and a complete Pc to go with it.

Now...I still got my RIG...and he went thru his CPU...and he needed to buy another one $349 E6600...plus his board went last month...he wanted to change the RAM...he had 2G of 667...now have a 4G of 800.

I still have my same old shit...just added RAM to go to 4G...and The total bills diff is : $895 in my favor...plus he only beats my FPS in BF2 by 10...

lol...

Prices on my German supplier are right where they are supposed to be (260€ for q6600, 270€ for e6850) and in stock. First time in history where we are better off than you US guys
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Fry's is ALWAYS overpriced by at least 10% for everything I have seen there compared to newegg. Fun to browse, but I would never buy any hardware there.

I went to Fry's today and got a Q6600 for $289(us). I was suprised it was that low. It was cheaper to buy it at the store than online -thats a first!
