If you're playing BF2 for the rankups and unlocks, you're playing for the wrong reason, and it's no wonder you burn out.

FPS fans will never tire of the game. I usually play any given FPS game for 10-14 months straight, almost every day, have done that for years now. BF1942 and specifically Desert Combat, I played for nearly 2.5 years, every day, never got old.

I imagine BF2 will be the same way.

If you get bored, FPS games are not for you. For FPS fans, BF2 is never going to get old.

I quit for 5 months and just came back last week.  I'm enjoying myself   Take a break play some other crap and then come back for another run, you will remember why you like this game.

I see your point, but I disagree and the "point" system part.  When I was playing Joint Ops, there were no ranks or medals, yet the strategy and teamwork is the same as it is in this game.  People just want to do what they want to do.  They paid for the game (well most did,) so its up to the individual on how they want to play it.  I would love to use teamwork and strategy, but I gave up on that months ago.  Most of the time, the squad you join has people all over the map. Someone is in a plane, another in a tank, and somebody sniping.
you speak about public servers, mate. hey, my point was this: it's PUBLIC bloody servers that make me bored. right, ppl do what they want there and by "what they want" i mean "running about like they are playing quake farming points". is that boring? - hell, yes. but still - that's what they want. and let it be, i couldn't care less - i just don't play on public servers if i can't team up with my friends.

Clans are no better, I see them spread all over the map.  I have had cases where the squad sticks together and it is really fun, but those moments are hard to find.
again, YOU only see them on PUBLIC servers - no surprise they behave like everybody else there (and most of my clanmates are no different i must admit ). it's just what those servers turned out to be: mindless point farming crap.

strategy and tactics help your team WIN in bf2 but do not directly increase your STATS on most maps. see where i'm going? - WINS do not lead to STATS in this game, unless you play as commander. ea made it this way and, imho, screwed their own game.

so, join a clan, play clan vs clan matches and you might uncover some new stuff in bf2. i did.

p.s. oh, well, i just remembered one thing - i'm posting this on a site dedicated to bf2 STATS, lol.

I'd say stat padding gets a little old.  BTW, am I good at BF2?

But yeah, I'm getting a little bit tired of the game.

Not playing for a while has done the opposite, instead reviving what i originally loved its just too frustrating.

I even went out and bought SF, which i think might be a waste of money, and i can feel myself losing interest in the whole thing.

With the added element of DICKHEADS and NOOBS.

Definitly not. BF2 is a great game. Just look at some of the hardware. Heli's, attack heli's, planes, tanks, APC's, boats, AA/AT, vast amount of guns, explosives, squads, commander mode, rank and award system and my personally favourite, the TV guided missile. All in the same game. I don't know about anyone else, but when I first started playing BF2 and I found the mini guns in the blackhawk I could of wept a tear of joy. Endless amount of gameplay options ie special ops missions, sniping, air/land vehicle etc etc. This game is great! Should have been game of the year. I use to play cs. Not no more.

If anyone is bored of this game at a low hour count (under 100), then FPS's really aren't their thing. I can't marathon play it like I did after its release last summer, but I still enjoy it. Once I get vet Aviator I'll probably switch to SF and have to relearn everything all over again (new map and squad strategy).

This game has lots to offer, and I don't believe anyone who says they've fully explored the different aspects of the game until they at least have all the veteran badges. Not because vet badges show skill, but because they showed a commitment to working on the variety that this game offers in kits, vehicle classes, and roles.

Edit: Side note to Berserk_Vampire... I can see why you are bored, and why you get frustrated with such bad teamplay. You've put in 106 hours on Karkand out of the 160 you spent in the game. Yes it is a great map, and allows for quick scoring, but you really shorted yourself by limiting your play to a single map (66% of your time). I personally found a server that rotates through all of the original BF2 maps. Yeah, Zatar sucks and others like Kubra are mainly enjoyed by those who go up in the air, but they are a change of pace.

Maybe even spend some time perfecting flying (not constant plane whoring, but a round or two here and there when you solely focus on flying and supporting your ground troops).

I'm not playing this as much as I thought I would be.

I mean, I could do Gazala/El Alamein/Lost Village all day long on DC, but BF2 just...  doesn't have the same fun.  Maybe it's the levels?  The lack of power vrs air vehicles while on foot?

I'm just sitting tight waiting for the mods.  Forgotten Hope 2, Point of Existance 2, Desert Conflict, and Interstate '04.
