Hi all, I was looking around for a new monitor. After an extensive research, I narrowed down my selection to four - so it is quadrilema in fact! I would love to hear if anyone has any of these monitors or had any experience with similar models. The selected models are
1. Asus VW192s @166eur - 19", widescreen, 1440 x 900, 330cd/m2, 800:1 and 5ms, 0.285mm pixel size
2. Asus VW191 @322eur - 19" widescreen, 1440 x 900, 330cd/m2, 600:1 and 8ms, 0.285mm pixel size (DVI)
3. Samsung 940BW @217eur 19" 1440 x 900 / 75 Hz, 300 cd/m2, 500:1, 4 ms
4. Samsun 206BW @304 20", Wide, WSXGA+ 1680x1050, 300 cd/m2,800:1, 2ms, 0.258mm
My personal choice would be the number 1, whereas close friends recommend number 2. 3-4 are runners up, primarily because low response rates. HOWEVER, I was told that such low responses work only on gray2gray and that with full colour these are in fact slower than monitors built on platform that supports somewhat higher response rates like 5 or 8ms.
Some claim that the quality of the picture is improved by increaseing cd/m2 by 10% and I am not sure how really important that is for me when killing individuals in BF. This monitor will be connected to a machine that does nothing else than run BF2.
I included the prices, because 1 seems also very good value for money - I mean I could by 2 for the price of one in some cases. Alternatively, please suggest another monitor in price range up till 350euros or around 400-450USD (equivalent).
Thanks in advance!
