Let me remind you who was responsible for the Budget for the UK over the past god knows how many years. UK citizens pay more in tax now than ever before. Each budget that was announced gave you £50 and took £500.... it's a joke. Now this guy is running the country. Yes he has made noises to improve the situation but he is a politician and is looking for another term. Nothing the Labour party has promised has come to fruition, I dont believe it will change that much under Brown.

One further point, if (and I do mean if) we are to be forced to have ID cards, then the state should supply them FOC, not fucking charge you for them!!
If your going to criticise him for being in charge of the treasury throughout the UKs strongest period of economic growth then that's just silly. He did a lot good things while he was Chancellor.
Brown inherited a prosperous economy from the tories and now is selling off every thing the government owns to keep his deficit in order...He is a moron.
Thatcher had sold it all long before Labour came into power.. all Nationalised industries? check; What about all the social housing stock? sold by Thatcher; National Railways? Sold by Thatcher; British Telecom? check; Schools playing fields? gone.. lmao.. Labour have nothing left to sell, except a few army bases here.

Exactly.

The economic growth was not inherited from the tories. It was a product of well balanced policies by Brown.

I think biometrics applied to foreign nationals - GUESTS - in a particular country is quite acceptable.
Yeah well, when I visit I'll be a guest... and I fucking hate biometrics and all kinds of filing I'll have to go through to come to the UK. In fact, those procedures are a major reason why I'd rather stay at home and that sucks because I'm a travel person. Whatever happened to the reduced measures of security within the EU?

There is no economic growth...what country are you living in, it definitely inst Britain.

Realtime employment is falsified by all the non jobs created under the labour government to keep unemployment figures down, there is no real manufacturing in the UK anymore, its all in China, we do not even own our own Car manufacturing Company.

Sure London might have signs of growth, but the rest of this country is facing recession and has been for the past 18 months. All of the major manufacturing plants from my area are gone now. We have a shit load of supermarkets being opened and shopping centres in place of factories...problem is, without the factories to provide the wage, the money isn't there to spend at the supermarkets. Its a joke!

At the end of the day, ALL politicians are out for one thing, regardless of the stance they show in public...they want the power and fuck the rest of us and how it affects our lives. They don't give two shits about those who have to make do with minimum wage, working overtime all the while to make ends meet and keep a roof over their family's heads, in fact they make it harder to make ends meet by imposing maximum working hours in some industries, so If you cant earn enough in normal hours your fucked. They're only happy when your not on a list that can be used against them.

They will say what they believe will make them popular to keep them in the cosy position that they have. I will give Brown one concession, he is seeking expert help from top names in industry, from people who have the experience to run businesses....the country is a really just a big business and it amazes me that politicians get the roles they do with no experience what so ever in the field they are to act as minister to.

Are you that stupid?

We've had more than 50 consecutive quarters of economic growth. Brown Chancellorship has seen the most sustained economic growth since records began in 1701. You clearly don't know what you're talking about and haven't looked at any of the figures.

Productivity per worker is up, employment is up, GDP is up, inflation is down, the pound is strong, interest rates are low - you're just talking nonsense.

There is no doubt that Brown's changes at the Bank of England have paved the way for this low-inflation, low-interest economy.

Is it just me or does it seem like British politics are more intellectual?  Why the fuck can't we be more sober and rational about things?  (football riots notwithstanding...  lol)

we don't have as many large industries paying for our political parties so we're not being governed by say the tobacco lobbies or the oil lobbies, as much. We just give away peerages for cash donations.

Interest rates low eh....???
Yes. Interest rates are low. 5.75% is low. Even if it is the highest for 6 years, that says a lot about the quality of the economy during that period.

Under the tories - who you claim he inherited a strong economy from, interest rates were up at around 11% - that's high.

People are complaining because due to the low interest rate economy people have become so reliant on under Brown's Chancellorship has meant people are borrowing more than they can afford to. These rising interest rates are an attempt to curb excessive borrowing and reduce inflation, which at 2.4%, is pretty damn low too - though not as low as they'd like, which accounts for the interest rates rise.
