So, I'm currently running with following:

Mobo: ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA (supports agp & pci-e 16, DDR1 & DDR2)
CPU: Intel C2D E6320 1,86GHz
Memory: 2x1 gig of DDR1
Gpu: nVidia 7800GS AGP
HD: 250GB SATA
Case: Antec P150 with 430W psu
OS: Win XP home

And this is what I thought to get:

Gpu: nVidia 8600GT 256MB GDDR3
Memory: 2x1 gig of Kingston HyperX 800MHz DDR2
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

This would leave me with ~200€ loose money from my budget, which I could spent on coffee, donuts and gasoline along next fall, or I could buy some better parts to my PC. So, what should I put more in my upgrade, or is this good setup to run Vista with?

And how much difference there is between DDR1 and DDR2 memories?

def. want ddr2, and that 8600GT is not great compared to the awesome 8800GTS for a few $'s more. But you'll have to up your PSU if you want an 8800

Vista is garbage to begin with so it's definitely not worth getting unless you're going to have an 8800 of some sort.  An 8600 would probably be slower than what you already have.

So, in your opinion, I should just stick with my new PC until I can afford 8800 setup? Makes me almost think that I should just get box360 for gaming and upgrade my PC when something like nVidias 9000 series comes out. I'm so confused whit computer stuff .

A 320 meg 8800GTS is not much more. Just that and a power supply and you will be fine. Stick with XP until you can upgrade.

If you can afford it then hell yeah. You can get some cheap DDR2.

Would 500W psu be sufficient, or should I get even more powerful one?

Going from a 7800GS to a 8600 GT is pretty much downgrading.

I would say wait for the new nvidia series, DDR3 and the new intel processor to settle down and become cheaper(when they are out off course) Then get one, because the 8-series is already more than a year old.

Just a thought, and I do not have 1st hand knowledge of this MoBo, but reviews I read back int he day said the ASRock AGP/PCI-Express MoBos REALLY slow down your PC performance... I was going to buy one myself as a "transition" board until I read this... You might think about that upgrade as long as you upgrade the rest of your parts... I would put MoBo above a new OS...

(Sorry if this posts twice, I am buggy today for some reason....)

Thats what Im starting to think too. Maybe it really would be smarter to get box360 and play GoW untill they release all that new stuff, rather than spending on soon outdated system. I just dont know (we need *smashes his head on table* smilie).

Yep, new mobo will be top priority on my next high-budget upgrade, just for now Im looking for something cheap to keep me going to around January as I hope to finish my studies by then and get decent paying job.
