"PepsiCo Inc. is the latest company to offer some clarity about the source of its top-selling bottled water as it announced on Friday it would change the label on Aquafina water bottles to spell out that the drink comes from the same source as tap water."

I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

When? Maybe they poisoned the water supply after you left.

edit: That being said, my Brita filter does a pretty dandy job of filtering the yuck out of the water. And I buy bottled water when I want water and am not at home to get water. Convenience you see

This reminds me of the Dasani launch in the UK. It isn't sold here anymore.

That's because it failed standards testing over here, because they were treating tap water and in the process making it potentially carcinogenic - the tap water before treatment was fine. Dasani water - tap water, with added poison.

Oh shit...  That's crazy...  See, over here, there is no "official" standard that defines what is "filtered" water as opposed to tap water.  Man, I'm glad I don't drink that stuff, because it's probably still got carcinogens in it.

I doubt it. It was a freak occurence, because their treatment process converted some harmless stuff in the tap water into poisonous stuff. You only run into problems with very specific water sources - Coke decided the brand had taken enough hits and that they weren't going to sell much in the UK, so they cut and ran. Their advertising campaign was hilarious too - "Bottled Spunk", I'll never forget that one (in the UK spunk = cum).

LOL...  See, in America, spunk can mean "attitude", but nowadays, I think a lot of people here probably mean the British definition more.  There was some short-lived TV show on Comedy Central with 4 British comedians that did a sketch about a new product called "Monkey Spunk" that was pretty funny.

Here in scotland we dont need bottled water. Water out the tap tastes fresher and better than any other.

Aye...

"The number of faecal coliform, or E coli, failures - which could prove a danger to health - increased from 18 to 21. Mr McLaren said this trend was "disappointing". "

Switzerland FTW. Any water source you find - any fountain at all, if not marked with a shield that says "Not Drinking Water" is drinking water. Therefore, I can go on tours of cities and drink from any fountain that there might be in the streets, and I save myself the costs of buying bottled water. Here in Switzerland what we spend our bottled-water-money on is carbonated water

Whenever I need a drink of water, I pack up and head to the icy streams of the Alaskan wilderness, its a bitch getting there though.
