Ok, some of you might know me from poking my head around in the D&ST forum a little bit and I've been UA for a while, 3-4 weeks or so.  Well I've been at the Platoon Leaders' Course for Officer Candidate School for the Marine Corps.  I'm prior enlisted meaning I've gone through boot camp.  For those that have gone through the USMC basic training before let me tell you, getting IT'ed may have been a burden but its nothing compared to OCS.

The PT is so much and so constent and there is so much movement that bootcamp, while not a cake walk, is not the same.  Holding a billet here is very important and so is showing leadership potential so for those that aren't PT studs, its very hard.  I'm not the best PTer but I can hold more then my own on a hump and have put out like a crazed idiot here.  It is offically more difficult then bootcamp.  If there wasn't libo here then most of the candidates would either be broken in 4 weeks or dead because the Sgt. Instructors (DI's) snapped and went nuts on them.  I'm a prior and its hard for me sometimes to deal with some of the stupid stuff some of these 'college' educated kids do.  I mean they're all nice guys but they lack common sense some days, or all.

Basically what I mean to say is, this place is hard.  Much harder then bootcamp, a place I graduated as Plt. Honorman from which made bootcamp just that much more stressful.  I'll complete training with all my heart and effort because I want to be a leader of Marines, save any big injuries, but wow, this place is hardcore.

For my platoon its not nearly as hard mentally.  We don't really get counted down by the SNCO's (we have 3 gunnies, and then the Plt. CO. a Capt.) But they do expect you to have the drive and motivation to do it fast on your own.  It is also the responsibility of the billet holders to get the platoon moving.  Our platoon has two Sgt.'s and a couple of motto Lcpl.'s and a few motto civiies that get it going if the billet holders aren't up to the challenge.  For the rest of the company, they get messed with hardcore.  Get on line right now, portholes right now, two sheets and a blanket right now, make your rack right now, two sheets right now... did i say a blanket, good, get a blanket right now... make your rack... we hear that all the time while we are squaring away gear because we moved quickly and quietly.

trust me its felt like a long time for me as well.  I've had to go to medical every morning for three days and thats pushing my luck, the corpsmen want me to go back on monday and I don't believe thats in my best interest so I'm just going to train the last couple of weeks with a load of pain killers and have all of my medical conditions and situations taken care of after training is completed.   Not going to get a medical disqual from this place, thats just sad.
