If you've got a friendly spec-ops lone-wolf running around, spotting the commander at the Gatehouse could be far more important than spotting any other player, anywhere, on the map.

As someone else implied - it all depends on context - do the right thing at the right time - even when that might appear to be 'spotted spamming' to everybody else.
No shit it doesn't take the whole team to cap it, but what I was saying is if no one is near the commander, no point in spotting him/her. Also, like I just said:

The main thrust of my point is that it's easy for everybody that isn't the commander to accuse the commander of 'spamming spotted' 'cos he's spotting something for some reason that you're not aware of.

If we are USMC and the whole right island is under MEC control and none of my teammates are there ofc i wont spot unless a tank is closing fast.

Why even ask what people's general opinion are if you are going to act like that? Trolling for flamewars?

The simple fact of the matter is when you spam things meaninglessly all over the map you can interfere with actual teamwork. If VOIP people can't hear each other over you (why I have in game voice turned to like 2%) or your spam text can scroll IMPORTANT teamwork texst before it can be read.

Also, choppers should be out HELPING their team... Not killing snipers in the middle of the ocean... Every minute that sniper is swimming is one minute that sniper is not picking off your team, or spam claymoring a capture point. Too bad that tank just raped the 2 squads capping flags while you sent the tank killing chopper out after that "easy kill."

There are so many things people should do differently but all they want to do is killing. And i dont blame them. Thats why ill try to spot an easy kill for them. I hope we wont meet on a server cos you would probably issue a vote against me.

I never spot under the UAV. That would be silly. Never seen people being spot under it but i see it happened to some of you guys. Sad.

I spot tanks and stuff that are under UAV when the UAV's about to run out or if they're moving out of range of the UAV.

It's no help if the commander is spotting every enemy on the map at the same time, or spotting the same sniper 12 times in one second.

well if you call out 15 people at a spawn point, then the guy in the jet on your team should fly over and take them out. someone swimming out in the ocean should be killed by a helicopter or a jet. any one person can spawn out 5 guys so everyone should be killed no matter where they are. and if more than one person would listen to the commander, then there would be no reason to spam a target that is going to get a main base or who is a threat to whatever. the commander is the one paying attention to every player on the map, and the patterns. no one else seems to be paying attention to that. so listen to commander at all times. commander has a strategy and he needs everyone to cooperate or else its useless to even try.

That's exactly the point what the other people said.
It's completely useless to use a spot there.
You can easily give an attack order to the heli crew in the general area where the sniper is swimming.

Spotting back flags to see if any enemies have snuck through is one of the best tactics for a commander. It stops flags from being taken.

Commanders that spot whore suck, im sorry but its retarded, how hard is it to throw uav over the majority of the enemy force? spot the few that are a threat.... just spot them once, no one cares about the commander hiding in a corner, just drop a crate on his ass. The best commander is one that can assist in combat and still do a job of commanding, of course i dont play in 64v64 man servers, in a 32 man tho commander whores suck........... just command and fight......... its not hard if you got a lil bit of skill.......

Unfortunately I'm not even kidding. I had a commander on Warlord who would spot the guy every-single-fucking-time-he-spawned. So every 15 seconds there'd be "Enemy Infantry Spotted!1!11one" and a dot which stayed on the map for two seconds.

Commanders should use this gift from God to spot threats nearby troops, or to inform people of a sneaky trooper or three advancing to an out-of-the-way CP (like Train Accident on Karkand where most everyone's busy at Hotel). That way some people could spawn there and dispose of the threat.

But constantly spotting the same unit is not efficient. It may give the feeling that there are a swarm of tanks, where there is actually only one.
