XP can support up to 4GB of RAM. However, due to limitation of the 32-bit OS, hardware address mapping, and RAM address mapping overlap to some degree. With 4GB of RAM installed you will get about 3-3.1GB. The 2GB limit is actually in reference to how much RAM XP will dedicate to any single process.
Yeah dude, seriously, get the 8800. Especially with the 22" screen, it's going to look shit because all the cards resources will be used up in displaying the massive res.
I recommend ditching 2GB of RAM and get an 8800GTS. 2GB is plenty, and you'll be glad you did in the end.
