I've heard many things about th cards RAM..

Somebody says that 320mb RAM, other 640mb RAM..

So is the most clever thing to buy with 320mb RAM, or pay the extra for 640 ?

You won't notice much difference 320MB of RAM and 640MB of RAM unless you are playing in resolutions on or over 1600x1200. So if you are going to play under those resolutions, a 320MB should be fine - otherwise, I'd go for the 640.

If you plan to play DX10 on a decent quality, people should get the 640MB because DX10 will take more memory to handle the textures.

But you could OC the memory to a point.  It all depends on how much money you want to spend and how proficient you are at OC'ing your computer.

Overclocking isn't going to give you more video RAM.

Anyhoo...

Lieutenant_Jensen: a combination of what leetkyle and Omega said is about right - for the moment you're not going to notice that much difference between 320MB and 640MB, unless you running really high res, or multiple monitors. But, the 640MB version will be more future-proof.

I have an E6600, an 8800GTS 320MB and 2 gigs of ram. I can play BF2 on all the highest settings. I don't know how the card will hold up to future developments, but for now 640MB would have been a waste of money for me.

Looking at the prices on dabs.com, there's about, what, a £50ish (?550ish DKK) difference between the 320MB and 640MB versions of the same card - so, if you can afford it, go for the 640MB version.
