Razer barracuda
Sennheiser PC150s. Comfortable, good sound quality, good mic. You can pick them up for about £35 these days. My first set's mic stopped working after just short of two years, but the warranty covered it. Second set is going strong.
Senheiser PC150 or if you're flush PC160.
Dont get the PC155 or PC165 as it's just a USB version meaning you pay more and bypass your nice sound card :S

Search! And then get any Sennheiser model you want. They're all fantastic.

Go the Medusa
What sort of price range? Will you be using it a lot or just for the occasional late BF2 / Teamspeak (or other variants)?
actually guys hate to steal this thread but what headset's would you recommend for a max of £40. I'm thinking the icemat's because the reviews everywhere are very good.

Yep, an ICEMAT or something like this would do the trick for £40!

When I was searching for a new mic. somebody told me that the Razer Barracuda indeed was very good but it was quite expensive ( in my opinion ).
