This gets too hot and crashes after an hour or so of BF2, anyone have any recommendations of how to cool it? I already put some Arctic Silver 5 on it, which gave me the extra 15 minutes of gameplay. It's clear that I need a better HSF but i'm really not sure what I should get.
Lower your settings in BF2 see if it still does it, and also make sure you clean out your computer, bind any wires and move them out the of the way, etc.
How hot does it get?
zalman v900 should work very nicely
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
Heres a nice heat sink to get, http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/vie … p;code=013
or if you can find one of those ati silencers.

I've not used any of their newer products, but I found ArcticCoolings ATI Silencer to be a very good product for my X800.
Looks like the Accelero S2 is designed for the 1650, and it's passive, so you're system would also be (a little bit) quieter with one of those.
Also, as others have said - clear out any dust bunnies first to see if that helps.

yea i have one too for my old computer, it works great!
I was looking at that one, is it worth the 30$ on Newegg? I'm starting to run low on cash.Maj.Do wrote:

vf900: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835118001
vf700: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835118117
33 vs 30 bucks, not really a big price difference there

I'm actually considering getting my parents to order it right now. Mostly because it'll save me 10$ on buying it anywhere else which will somewhat make up for the 28$ more I paid for my new HDD at Best Buy rather than ordering it from Newegg for like 55 with shipping$. I didn't really feel like waiting for it since the current HDD was broken and wouldn't boot Windows. I don't regret it one bit, this was my problem the entire time with BF2 lag and slow loading times.
