That's what you deserve for getting together with your competitors and agreeing to simultaneously raise your fares.

British Airways has been fined a record £121.5m by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) after it admitted colluding to fix the prices of fuel surcharges.
BA held illegal talks with rival Virgin Atlantic over the charges, which were added to passenger fares in response to rising oil prices.

Now if only someone could expose the 'conspiracy' of the Dublin bars, clubs and breweries control of alcohol prices!

That's more like it.  They need to set some stiffer fines like that for some of these US companies that do shit like that.

Um... I thought the fine was more along the 650 million mark. The US government fined them too.

If only anti-trust action was active and indiscriminate in the US.

Haven't there been quite a few cases like this in the US?

I seem to remember lots of RAM companies getting fined for price fixing.

That's news to me.

I just remember the bullshit Supreme Court case with Microsoft.  How Justices with stock in a company being tried are allowed to rule on the case is beyond me....

We need "alternate" Justices when shit like that happens.

BA? Cartelling? None-sense! Scandal!

I remember when RAM companies were caught doing that. A MONTH after a spent £96 on a matched pair of RAM, the same now costs £64

Someone at Samsung had huge fines and a 10 month prison term, following a department of justice investigation. Samsung were fined $300 million. Lots of other companies (Hynix ($185) and Infineon ($160 million) definitely, maybe more) got in trouble and got hefty fines too - but for those sorts of steps to be taken against an individual is pretty drastic and something I commend.

We have a really shitty situation in Dublin with the price of drink. Drink is way cheaper in rural Ireland (up to 2euro cheaper per drink in some cases, even though transportation should mean an increased price) but all the bars, clubs and breweries seem to be together when prices get raised in the capital. In Dublin a lot of bars raise the price of drinks after midnight ...wtf is that all about? They claim that it pays for the extra security etc. needed in clubs but I'm afraid that's bullshit because other countries have bouncers too. It's actually cheaper to buy Irish whiskey in Berlin than Dublin because of the crazy prices we have here now (that's a fact btw, I've been to Berlin and seen it myself).

I get the impression that Dublin (like London) is prohibitively expensive to live in.  People tell me that Cork is a lot more affordable and more pleasant overall.

Pure lies, Cork is unfortunately full off Cork people and the government seems to be doing little to solve this problem! Dublins not too bad, im on the worst money you can possibly earn (im a apprentice electrician) and I still manage to get shit faced several times a week in said bars and clubs!@

Rambus was doing that, I don't think they've got sued but what happen was everyone else moved to DDR and they're pretty much dead now.
