It's times like these when I almost feel like we should've burned Iraq to the ground and then left.
It's hard to say whether or not this approach is wise. On the one hand, we have used militias in many areas of Iraq to establish order. On the other hand, I'm not sure if you can really trust former Al Quida members as "allies."

back to the article it is a risky chance the US is taking by paying money and giving them power . Will it work? only time can tell

Blackbelts are just whitebelts who have never quit.
I've said it before: at some point the US is going to fund Sunni insurgent groups to fight against the pro-Iranian forces in Iraq.
I know it sounds crazy on the surface, but given the fact that we are essentially funding people who worked with other people who have attacked us, doesn't it seem like the real goal of this operation is continual war?
Think about it... We invaded Iraq and not long after, we decommissioned the Iraqi Republican Guard. So, we now have a lot of unemployed soldiers that are pissed at us for toppling their government, and not surprisingly, they join the insurgency.
Then, an interim government forms that has obvious ties to Iran, and here we are funding and arming Sunnis that were most likely former insurgents themselves.
It looks like we're putting things into play that are more designed to create chaos than order. I'm sure the contractors love the continual flow of money as well.
Each time something gets built, it gets blown up by insurgents, and then it gets built again -- so then you have construction projects that really have no end.....

how many of them, non Al Q members, dreamed and planned on attacking America and rest of the world, and converting everyone to Islam?GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

This is a fantastic idea! Think about your losing a war to a bunch of crazy men, thousands of Iraqi's and US forces are dead. Chances are in ten years there wont be anyone left in Iraq. So the military might as well arm its enemies so it can purchase some more arms off Defense contractors and the government can make a bit off the money back on taxing said Defense contractors!
