Do, I just started playin bf2 again after a stint with 2142. I dont have my gamepad anymroe that I used for jets. I've always used mouse for choppers, but I was wondering whats a good layout for jets and a keyboard?
well i use a keyboard in conjuction with a joystick -w/ joystick: has throttle and use the A and D keys for Yaw the rest is to the joytick -keyboard alone: i kinda stick with W for throttle and A/D for yaw, S for deceleration, space bar for fire 0 keypad for alt. fire and c to change views, x for flares
Before I got my joystick I tried using the arrow keys for pitch and roll which I found easy to learn but it's hard to line up targets that way. With the mouse I find I keep running into the keyboard. I have inverted mouse for both plane and heli; I don't know how people do it the other way.
I've only just started to learn to fly properly. I use the default keys for accel/decell (w&s), yaw(a&d), switch weapon(f) and flares(x) but I changed 'c' to chase rear so I can look behind me. Joystick has fire (trigger) and alt fire (button 2) as well as cockpit view (button 3) so I can get straight back to seeing where I'm going after looking behind; I got sick of cycling through all the views. I also have flares on a joy button but I don't really use that much as yet (I keep forgetting in the heat of the moment).
