Hey man, I understand where you are comming from. This was my first build and i spent a ton two, i have had my share of probs. BUT violence and technology do not mix!

Do you hear any noises when you hit the power button, any signs of life at all? I dont think you fried your chip, it should shut down before it gets to hot to damage it.  Any lights on teh mobo? you should have two amber light sand a blue one just above right of the ram slots (we have the same board/variation). Any of the LED codes on teh mobo do anything when you hit power? If so what are they?

Try the same as above with the CPU and RAM.

Trying taking one stick of RAM out and switching slots, then try the other stick...etc. You may have bad RAM.

Re-mount the CPU and make sure no dust is on the socket or on the chip.

Unplug all but the essentials (HDD, CD drive, peripherals, case fans/lights...everything except RAM, video, and CPU) and try to boot.
