I recently started playing Rockstars Bully game on PS2 and it made me realise just how good games can be. They actively involve the player and alot of the time have a fairly good story line behind them. I have played quite a few games now where i have often found myself feeling hooked on the story line and really feel like part of the story, a few examples of previous games where the storys were fantastic : Deus Ex, Half life series, GTA series, MGS series, Bully and the Hitman series. If any of you have had the pleasure to play these games you will know what i mean, especially with Deus Ex and HL series. Its often like reading a good book, but instead of using your imagination to visualise the characters and settings, instead you get to see them yourself and actually play through them.
It is true that games do not take much imagination unlike books, however they do take you into another world and its a very good experience. When i say games i do not mean all games for example BF2 has pritty much no story line, online games dont really have a set story line, instead single player games do.
Post any good games where you think they have a really good story behind them (new or old), as i would like some new games to play!
Here are some more great game series that have a interesting story line, some of these are very old but i can still remember the stories well:
Crash Bandicoot series (yes childish i know, but it was one of the first games i had on my ps1 and the series was quite funny)
Spyro the dragon series (same as above, although i only played the first 3 games)
Abe's Oddessy series (My very first ps1 game)
Medieval series (PS1 again, about that skeleton knight)
Tomb Raider series (they were ok)
Max Payne series
