New(ish) Rig

I'm looking to basically build a new rig, just salvaging my current RAM and HDDs from the old one
RAM - 2 x 1024mb DDR 3200 Micron (i think - will have to check at end of the month when i'm back in england)
HDD - 2 drives, 1 160gb, 1 90gb

I have a budget of approx GBP400 to GBP600, or €600 - €800 approx.

The reason i ask is that i'm total crap with working out compatability etc and what works well with what.

If the RAM is no good nowadays (a lot of mobos only support DDR2) then i can upgrade the ram and up the budget another GBP100 / €150

Also, i have no need for peripherals, got those already, just looking for componants

I'm afraid the RAM will be no good to you. PC3200 is very outdated and it's extremely unlike that you'll be able to find a motherboard that will support it.

You can wang that DDR in one of these kerazy asrock hybrid mobos with a C2D and get a good perfomance increase.

This is the same situation with all {particulary early revision} cards - however, the GTS will still suffice for a while yet.

The case already has several fans, including a monster 200mm fan. Also, the stock cooler will be fine unless he wants to overclock!

Im using one now with DDR400 (2-2-2-5) and an e6600, it's only flaw is I cant find anywhere you can jiggle the CPU voltages so OCing is basically impossible, it get's unstable with just a 300Mhz OC when you can't up the volts, sad as it'd hit 3Ghz even with the stock cooler on but it's a good stop gap, I've got an AGP x1950 which I dont really what to chuck yet so it was perfect for me.

Oh for the OP, on your budget Kyle's upgrades are a better idea, just slightly derailing with this motherboard thing lol.

I can bin the DVD Drive and get a slightly better CPU, might see what i can salvage from home and bin the HDD too, and add that to the cpu
Might even downgrade the sound crad a wee bit cuz i usually use a headset when i game anyways....

Now then, it'll take me about 6 weeks to get enough cash together for that bad boy
