You do know Macs and PCs use the same components these days right? They're PC's in pretty boxes with a different OS (it's the main reason you can port OS X so easily to a PC, and similarly XP to a Mac).

A Mac is a PC by a different name, built to look nice and cost's a lot for it, it's eye candy, the performance is dictated by the hardware, the hardware is not as good as you can get in a PC of a similar price, Bernie posted the hardware specs for the top end Mac, if anyone had come on here and said would you all buy this for a PC for £1500 he'd be laughed off the forums.

Which leaves their target customer base to home use casual gamers, just looking for low end DX10 support, low -  mid range intustrial graphics, high end stuff would eat that thing alive, and it's usually done with mainframe renderers wich I don't think Macs can support, could be wrong.

My PC hasn't crashed once using Vegas, C4D, Primiere, or After Effects even Maya (though I dont really know much about that but I did render some big stuff on it for a laugh) so stability again is ususally the fault of the user, not updating the OS regularly or whatever, the only thing my PC has ever crashed on is you guessed it, BF2, and that's no PC fault.

Not only that but you don't need a webcam...and i don't think that there is alot on that computer that is really needed.

Oh, and if cables are a problem, which if they are then you suck, then getting an XPS is a good choice.

Through OSXs architecture, it doesn't matter if a PCs components are narrowly better. PCs are more prone to crashing and reliability issues, hence the video editor uses a mac. Final Cut Pro and so on in absolutely awesome software - no one can deny that. For general ease-of-use, a large multimedia network - a mac offers much more than what a PC would ever do. Oh, and they also do do gaming - very well I might add. I should know because I've done it! Ask B if you want to know what it is like - I've played with him on 2142 constantly and he never complains of the system crashing, despite running XP. The macs components and architecture of them are just more sound.

On the other hand, through the lack of expandability I couldn't survive on a mac now. I am currently doing a very large video VHS-DVD transfer (400+ hours) and I needed to add TV cards and so on to my computer - this couldn't be done on a mac.

Both systems rock.
Lower clocks and Cherry picked chips always help on the crashing part.

You do realize that you just insulted all of Intel's new Core 2 Duo / Core 4 Quad line? They use the same processors.. lol!

I know what they use. But cherry picked chips are always more stable. Probably Intel gave them cherry picked chips so they won't jump to the AMD wagon.

Considering they are in a deal with a Intel, I doubt that will happen. The only chips they have ever used are Motorola and Intel in their iMac+ ranges, as far as I know.

But still, cherry picked chips ftw That's probably one of the reasons macs cost a lot

Okay, so they have funky mouses, big deal. Macs are for those who are really into photoshop and movie editing etc... PC's are for those who are geared more towards gaming.

That cute Mac shit doesn't do any good without performance IMO.
actually Macs are for photo and video and PC it for the other 95% of the world

I can surf like a retard all day long on my ibook and not get a single virus.

...granted, it's because no one writes viruses for apples, but still, it's a benefit to me.
i totally disagree with your statement that PCs get viruses. i have had my computer for around 6 months and never gotten 1 virus on it. it is simple enough to just run ad aware to get rid of ad ware and to use zone alarm.  i get what your saying that macs dont get viruses because none are wrote for them though.

Which brings about the point, how do you know theres not millions of bits of spyware all over a Mac? Nothings going to find it.

Because as everyone well knows, Mac's can't get spyware, the superior attitude of their owners deflects it!

It's because hardly anyone uses Macs. Why bother creating viruses/spyware for an OS that isn't nearly as popular as XP.

I like Apple for their iPods, Only.

Edit: Seriously, we should make a poll on here of who uses a Mac, and who Uses a PC for their primary computer usage.

You are correct on that one. Why waste all the effort of making a virus (which is nearly impossible, since all OS changes need to be 'approved' by the admin) that will only affect a small number of people.

A Mac is essentially a PC that is less-prone to crashing, but not crash-free...which suits long-term renders just fine. There is nothing worse than coming back after leaving a render up all weekend to find that it halted at 14%, especially if you were too lazy to automate a re-attempt in the case of such an instance. Unfortunately, a great deal of Mac hardware is outdated and being sold for prices higher than PC's. Prices that are tacked on to support the Mac's gregarious attempts at aesthetics, and the extra cost of implementing abnormal proprietary design.

But bern, that OP image really is quite unfortunate. I can just imagine PR guys playing around at the back of a PC, trying to jumble up wires as horribly as possible.
