...i still hate the fact if you fall like two feet you lose a nice little chunck of health but....men dont need parachutes...not all the time.

1. Enough room (Vertically) to freefall (IE: your gun gets put away) Normally after 1 second of falling.
2. Enough room (Area) for your parachute to open. I always die in Karkand too when I forget that I'm jumping into an alley without enough room for my parachute to open. Good rule of thumb, If you can drop an Abrams tank into the space you are going, it's good to go. Also, make sure you run and jump off of obstacles, so that you get plenty of room for your chute to open.
Always remember, the further away from the object you're jumping from, the less chances of hitting the side of it and deflating your chute.

cool guys ya spaming 9 did the trick i dont use it often but sometimes for ohh *bleep* moments as a sniper on a roof it helps

There are certain locations that are just a tad too low, so you need jump.
I especially noticed that when jumping from the Great Wall to reach the EU radar.
Best tip so far: Binding your parachute key to the space bar.
Additionally that is, as you'll hit the 9 very often until you get used to the space bar.
Spamming the parachute key is a piece of cake then.

You can only hit the parachute once your weapon disappears (from falling)
Everything Drexel is pretty much all you need to know about parachutes.
It really only takes one press, but most people spam the button in hopes that it works faster.
Try practicing it a little bit to get used to the sound you hear before hitting your parachute (the sound of how fast the wind is)
I use that as a general method of timing my parachute press.

Move it closer to your thumb if you wanna be safe. I did mines is set at V right above the spacebar.(So when i jump of a tall building i have a better chance of hitting the chute just in time)
The shoot used to open almost every where at a good height but with the patches they tried to prevent people from glitching in buildings with your shoot but it still didn't work. I use num9.
