Computer Locks Up Everytime

Hey all... have a question for everyone. I try to log onto my BF2 and when connecting to the account server it locks up. I made a new account and that one works fine. But if I try and compare the old account to my new one, (while logged into the new one) the computer locks up. And if I try to log on from a friends machine it locks up... and If they try to compare to me it locks up.... Any ideas? Thanks

Interesting... I can compare that nick with mine within BFHQ just fine, no lockups or anything. Leads me to believe that it has something to do with your trying to login with that username for some reason. Have you tried sending a question to EA Support yet?

You could also try and rename a couple of .con files in your profile folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\~USER\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002

>0002 may differ from what your profile folder actually is.

Open C:\Documents and Settings\~USER\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Global.con and look for:
GlobalSettings.setDefaultUser "0002"

Whatever that number is, that's your profile folder.

Try renaming them to .bak or something.. the game will recreate new ones upon starting the game.
Video.con (try this one first)
Audio.con (if the video doen't work, try this one)

Start with those two first. You'll have to reconfigure you video and audio setting.

Head over to support.ea.com I suggest trying a search first (just follow the steps in the large grey box near the top of the page) though I doubt you will find your answer, after trying a search a tab will show up on the top right of the page which says "Ask A Question" Click that and ask away. I think they require a login, so go through the steps to create a user login as well. Shouldn't be too hard to navigate.

Several people had an issue with the login process when using alternate shortcuts. Ie, using the 'Play online now' shortcut on windows desktop - the game creates locks up everytime you hit the login page.

It seemed to happen to everyone trying to log in via Australia that I am aware of - something to do with the 'play now' option defaulting to a US EA and getting ping impossible to connect to.

Would try using the alternates as a really basic first option.
