I was using my laptop and my batt was at half full, and it said it had 1hr and 30mins left before its dead. In a minute, the thing just dropped to 7percent straight, and tells me that my batt is almost running out, what the hell is this? A battery fault?

How long was it on charge?

What kinda of laptop?

Also, what were you doing in that period of time? The estimate may have been on your current power usage level but if it changed to a greater demand it could have drained it faster or created an inaccurate reading (if you started watching a movie or playing a game).

I think you FUC#$ up your battery. because even now rechargable batteries are still iffy.
-discharging/charging
- memory affect
- etc etc.
EDIT: my old cellphone does that too because i recharged the battery when it still have 80percent left and i only got like an hour of it on stand by
a mate in airsoft using the same size battery can only get 500 bb shots out of his mp5 while i can get like 1000+

here

It's a known problem in certain types of Asus notebooks, but I don't know if there is a fix. Hope this helps.

Here you go guy. From a guy who works for a battery store
How old is the Battery?    Most last about 1 to 1 1/2 years
Have you noticed that you have to charge it more often lately?     That is the first sign of a bad battery
When you plug in your charger does the charge light light up?  maybe the charger is going out?
Can you wiggle the connector on the back of the computer real easy? it my have come loose from the motherboard if it move pretty freely.
One last thing if its a laptop use it as one and not a desktop. unplug it once in a while.
