it's sort of different when you're sucking your hair like he was. When you just get a bit of hair in your mouth, yeah it's gross. If you're sucking it, you generally produce alot more saliva (durr) and you don't even notice when the hair slips out and you swallow it.

Plus its a mental disorder.

I saw some program that looked into hair eating, apparently doing it made the person instantly feel relieved of stress and relaxed, and they crave the feeling it gives enough so the grossness and the consequences aren't a factor.

Kind of like smoking I guess.
