I wonder if Bush has a "Peace Advisor".

Everyone would move to Canada/Mexico to avoid it, then they would be Draft dodgers and wouldnt they be forced to live there because if they came back isnt it like Severe punishment?
I kinda remember it was something harsh like Life in prison or the death penalty

This topic was old before Gibson shat itself. No draft will be happening.

But I like SEREMAKER's idea...except it should be both males and females. And there should be options other than military service (Peace Corps, Habitat for Humanity, etc). Service, where you put something/someone before yourself. I think it would build character and perspective that is distinctly lacking in many of our younger people today.

The most terrifying part of that statement is the fact that there probably wouldn't be as much protesting as one would expect.

As a nation, we've become so ignorant, indifferent, apathetic and lethargic that we would probably just take it, like we've been taking the shredding of our constitutional rights and well... this administration in general.

All Lute's saying is that it's not "off the table." But then neither are nukes. Neither one is likely before Jan 09.

The administration is just saying that they are examining all options...one of which is starting up the draft. That doesn't mean they are seriously considering it, nor that the House or Senate would vote it through should it get recommended.

Calm down, take a step back from the ledge and go ahead and get ready for the high school dance.
In other news, im with seremaker. maybe not a combat role, but some sort of required service for at least 2 years.

No draft, the last thing I want is when I join up to have some idiot who doesnt wanna be there in the foxhole next to me. I was thinking maybe non combat jobs back in the states but I dont wanna take the chance of them fucking up my shit.

Supposedly, Canada will now put out a lot more effort to deport draft dodgers and deserters than they did before.  They signed some kind of agreement with our government.
