Community Bulletin – January 18, 2006

Hello everyone.

By now, you have all seen the list of fixes in the next update (1.2). We are still trying to nail down a few final items and put the final touches in place.

Here is a list of additional items to look for in version 1.2:

- UAVs are now visible in the world so if you are being scanned, you can know about it and take action against it.
- Rank progression is no longer limited to the enlisted ranks. All officer ranks are now available.
- Bug that allowed players in vehicles to contest a flag from outside the flag radius is now fixed.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to clarify some confusion stemming from our updates.

The first item is on the topic of grenades. Player will still be able to toss grenades while jumping. Although the ability to fire while jumping has been removed, players will still be able to initiate a grenade toss prior to jumping and follow through with the toss, thereby gaining themselves some extra distance. We understand that there will be some adjustment in tactics required when the patch comes out but we are confident that the community will quickly come to grips with the new tactics.

The second item is on the topic of the booster packs. We have not created the maps as a separate expansion pack requiring a separate server. The booster packs will increase the content of the base game and thereby may be run on a server in regular rotation with the original maps.

Hello everyone.

As I pretty much expected, there is some last minute news to pass along. There’s some good and some not so good news but, hopefully, the good outweighs the not so good.

First, I’ll start with the bad news to get it out of the way. We have held onto the 1.2 patch a little longer than we had initially planned. We really felt that it was important to delay the patch and take care of some of the issues that have had the community concerned. This means that it will be released sometime in the next two or three weeks. This, unfortunately, means that the Euro Force Booster Pack will be delayed as well since it relies on the patch. Look for Euro Force to be released in the latter half of February now.

Also, another bit of bad news is that the new feature that allows player to pick up deployed mines with the G key is being held back. In the end, we felt it just wasn’t complete enough for public consumption. We at DICE apologize to all of you who were eagerly awaiting this feature.

I hope that the reasons for the delays are seen as positive by you, the community, and therefore I list these reasons as the good news portion of this update.

The following issues were addressed:

- Being able to pass through walls using a spinning tank turret has been fixed. It has also been addressed on all rotating vehicle positions just to be safe.
- The disappearance of tank projectiles and grenade launcher projectiles during online play has been improved and should occur less frequently
- The distance for throwing hand grenades, ammo packs, and health packs has been increased.

And finally…

- The Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed

Regarding the last point, what we have done is make the code more secure to try and prevent any cases where this bug may occur. Since the fix has been in place, we have had no reproduction of the bug in testing.

We’re excited about being able to release 1.2 very soon and hope you all are too.

Have nowone else recognised the bug where it sounds like somone is firing all the time with his gun, but he is´nt actually firing? happens to me allot.

yeah, i get it every now and again. what's your sound setup? i have an audigy 2.

I have a "M- Aduio" sound card and its being used for recordings with a microphone and not for plaing games. I have high sound setting and I cant use EAX with this card, but I can hear a strange change in the sound in the game when i´m inside a house (in Battlefield 2).

I've noticed there is nothing about Lan play with bots in this patch,  I'm not happy about that..  as the mod you can download doesnt work..

it is easy to do lan play with bots.

start a local server on any 16 player map besides Mashtuur or Kubra Dam

dont have them join until you are personally running around

once all their loading screens have the "join game option" you need to disconnect, they will all lose connection to the server and go back to the multiplyer server menu

start the same 16 player map in single player, make sure your buddies have not hit refresh server list because if they do you will have to start over because it will erase their "connection to your pc"

Once you are running around with the bots have them join the same server that they were just disconnected from

once they join you will be able to have a 16 player bot/people game going in LAN

Thank god the red/blue bug is gone, occured to me twice and I hated the results.

#1: Playing China on Daqing. UAV showed 2 enemy units at the Chinese airfield. Since I was dead, respawned there. One guy was already killed. Another guy was simply running around the hangar. I went up close to him and he was wearing Chinese uniform but was shouting in English. UAV definitely showed him as enemy. Shot him and got a teamkill. As I was wondering 'HUH?!" The same guy respawned and and asked a nearby shoebox to pick him up. Still in English.

#2: I just got shot down while flying a bomber in Cleansweep and I respawned at USMC Base and raced with 2 other guys to the bomber hangar. All of a sudden, I was shot down by the guy behind me. When I asked him why he did that, he said my name was red. Cost me the bomber for the rest of that round.

If he wanted ot make a good first impression he should have used the search and posted in one of the other bajillion threads on this subject.
