Well, I found a laptop which I think would be quite good for school.

The price is 450£

Toshiba

Specs

Intel Pentium Dual Core processor T2310(1.46ghz)

2048MB RAM

Intel GMA X3100

160 HDD

I just need it to run programs like Office and Mathcad perfectly and fast.

Is this a good price

Should be awesome for school, although if you need to do anything graphical that onboard POS will explode.

I wouldn't say that processor is good if you want to run CAD properly.

seems like mathcad 14 only needs a 700 mhz processor?

That's a good deal, dammit! I, too, am looking for something similar - link me, curse you!

And it should run those things perfectly well.

Bit like Maya only needs a P4 lol, they forget to mention it'll take you 3 hours to render a plain sphere, minimum reqs are nearly always stupidly low.

CPU and graphics are the only worries I have on that thing, anything <2Ghz is a bit weak and well, I don't think I need to point out anything about the onboard graphics, uses system CPU, RAM etc, just a system drain in general.

BTW you do realise that's a Pentium Dual Core not a Core 2 Duo?

If you want a bit of a bargain, take a look at the Dell factory outlet, you might get lucky.

Much as I hate Dells they make good laptops and the factory outlet is usually cheap.
