I think I'll have to go with AK-47. Nukes, while extremely effective, have only been used a few times, and will not be used very often. AK-47's on the other hand are mass-produced and distributed everywhere around to world. Militaries and rebels alike use the gun, and even children in third-world countries. It's such a widely available gun and so simple to use that it has been used for decades and will continue to be used for a very long time.

Diseases as weapons didn't killed more people than real weapons. Gunpowder isn't a weapon.

Nukes hardly killed anyone on the grand scale of things! They've only really ever been used twice.
Id imagine the Kalashnikov family of weapons is well on its way to killing the most people on earth considering the scale of the conflicts its used in compared to say swords and the fact that it will probably be used for decades to come, how does its inventor sleep at night?!
Theres a great moment in that film lord of war where Ethan Hawk makes a fine point about these assault weapons, but i cant find the clip.

And what about use of the Black Plague as a weapon? Trebuchet-ing the infected bodies of your own troops over enemy city walls was pure brilliance.Magius5.0 wrote:
So I guess I'll throw in my $0.02 and take a stab at it: biological warfare, technically. How many indians died when Europeans and colonists settled in the new world and brought smallpox and the like? Betcha you would have never thought of that. Looking to pin some numbers down, but I doubt I'll be successful.
I'm pretty sure any form of a knife. Swords, spears...etc.
I mean, look at 300...

Others ? You mean western allies ? Because USSR had 85mm , 90mm & 122mm tank cannons + 152mm self-propelled artillery.Stimey wrote:

This thing, 128mm gun when others had 76mm.
Realisticly, fire.
back to the topic : unlicenced piece of junk that was hand-made in a third word country which you ppl call AK-47.

You're a genuinely 'patriotic' son-of-a-gun aren't you. Still in love with the USSR eh?Longbow wrote:

For the record, that 'unlicenced piece of junk' is normally bought from Russian companies. Russia is one of the biggest arms dealers on earth.
As far as medieval weapons go, the spear and it's derivatives killed more than both bows and swords. Do some reading. Bows, in particular the English longbow, were not just to kill people, and in many cases didn't. They were used to slow down an army on the move as well, have you ever tried walking through a field that is covered in arrows? According to guys who do re-enactments it's fucking hard to do without spearing yourself on them.
Sword was a self defence weapon in most cases, where-as pole-arms and spears were used in many situations. They were also used quite a lot in ancient warfare, particularly the phalanx formations of Greece which 300 has made rather famous, and depicted in a very, very, very ficticious manner that had no grounding in a real phalanx formation.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Aside from desiese, I'd say that a weapon that caused absolute havoc that was built by human hands would be the MAXIM Machine Gun of WWI. With the AK/47 about to take it over. Close quarter trench combat face to face with your enemy back in those days. It was known for ripping entire units to shreads. Pure carnage when considered how war was fought prior to that.
The thousands killed by Atom bombs are nothing when compared to the devices that man has used to kill millions upon millions of people in conflicts worldwide. The AK-47 has to be near if not the top killer given the vast amount of penetration it's had in world markets. Hell, it's so easy to use that a 10yr old can pick one up and be breinwashed into pulling the trigger for some psychopath warlord in Africa.

I think that Biological Weapons have killed the most people. They are viruses and can contaminate places for long periods of time. People can be infected and die years later. So that's one of my choices.
If not that then probably the AK-47 for reasons such as it was one of the first assault rifles, there are so many of them in the world, it is the most produced assault rifle, and they are used all the time.
