The Liberal Party of Australia is probably going to either face turmoil similar to the Crean/Latham/Beazley years of Labor or fall apart all-together thanks to this.

Brendan Nelson is the new leader.

Clever man, putting Turnbull in Treasury.

This is going to be interesting.

He appears to be redefining the meaning of the word 'liberalism'...

This is great, Labor held Parliaments across Australia and now the leader of the Opposition...

...Was previously a member of the party in Government. Bahaha.

Sorry, I just find the irony too rich.

'Til 91, when he started discovering 'liberalism' (which seems to be to be a mix of conservative libertarianism and social liberalism)

Without any strong leader candidate in the near future the liberal party will have a hard time getting its act together and getting policies in order. It looks like Rudd is going to have plenty of years in power if the current liberal party leadership crisis continues.

What crisis? As far as the party is concerned they are determined that their leadership 'crisis' as you put it, left with Howard and Costello.

My father was a high ranking member of the CLP and remains a well connected and influential person within the CLP. He said the people he knows who are high-up in the Liberal Party are determined to put the Howard-Costello years behind them and move on stronger than ever.

Somehow, while I think Nelson is a dickhead for the F-17 Superhornets deal, I don't think the Liberals will have a major crisies like Labor did for several years.
