when i hoover over a button in firefox or web pages to get info on the button it appears blank. When i want to see the name of a tab, i hoover over it but the window is blank again.

Export your bookmarks (If you want to keep them) then uninstall Firefox. Then browse to C:\Program Files\ (Or wherever you have it installed) and delete the Mozilla Firefox folder. Reinstall.
Press Ctrl+W
Then when the setup page appear just put a chek on : Blank page on/off diseable/enable

Try reinstalling??? Maybe it's your linux ???
