because...

I am in the process of closing up my office, placing tomorrow's payroll checks in the safe, turning over the place to my branch manager, and leaving town to head halfway across the country for the Army-Navy game.

That's right, the 108th installment of America's game. College football between the soon to be victorious Midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy, and the soon to be once again defeated Black Knights of West Point.

If you don't get it, well then I guess whatever I have to say won't be of any consequence, but if you were in either branch, surely you know how kick ass it's going to be to be sitting in the stands hearing the National Anthem, surrounded by thousands and thousands of current, past, and future defenders of the very liberty that allows us to enjoy such spectacles.

There are Middle East peace talks occurring right now in Annapolis, and this would be an obvious spot for a terror attack, and I am flying American in a big ass 757 cross-country, but I suppose if I make it to an Army-Navy game with my brother and I go out on the way home, well I could have done worse. As long as they don't get me on the way there... If they blow up the game, I hope we're ahead when the bombs explode.

So good day to you fine folks and thanks to all of you, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Reserves, who stand behind the flag I'll be cheering this weekend. Go Navy!

What book of Tom Clancy's was it where they detonate a bomb during the Super Bowl in Denver?  Sum of All Fears I think.  Anyway, the Super Bowl would be a much better target than a college game most people probably won't watch anyway - there should be much better rivalry games on.

Good luck, buy a servicmember a beer or 6.

If you haven't been, GO. Bought many, many, many beers for many, many, many service men and women.

One of the great times of my life. There is no greater feeling than being in that group, and being part of it, and reveling in all that we have been, are, and will be.
