Maybe a way to help balance out the apparent dominance of air vehicles (Jets / helos) would be to have a SAM infantry kit. Much like the anti-tank kit. I dont know about you guys, but I've experienced way too many base rapes from a helos and jets. I don't really expect EA to impliment this, but I would think it would be a nice addition to the game. Also I think the addition of the A-10 Warthog would be sweet, but that's a whole new forum. What do you guys think?

From the viewpoint of a pretty good chopper pilot I'd say this is completely unnessicary. Heres a little known fact: The mounted machineguns on jeeps are the best thing you can use to down a chopper. Ten seconds of sustained fire and he is down. But it doesn't really matter anyway, the new patch supposedly fixes the AA missles and reduces the choppers missles and health. Jets too I believe.

We already have that kit in bf2 it's been there for a long long time people still don't use it much.
It's called the <enter>, W and E keys.
They can be used in the following fashion.

Once there drive away from the carrier or run way to the nearest enemy flag. Once there capture the flag and use the <enter> key to select that as a new spawn location.

Easier said than done my friend. Especially when you spawn late and all the vehicles are gone already. then it sucks. I guess the closest thing that i use now is the actual AT guided missle which works to a certain extent. As long as they're about 30 feet in front of you.vjs wrote:

it would be kinda cool if the AT class could switch between the AT rocket and a stinger.
the AT missile can work good against pilots that dont know much about what they are doing. with the way i circle in the attack chopper, i will rarely ever get hit. also with the BH i fly high and fast, constantly changing altitude to make it harder for them to hit me. a choppers worst friend is an MG on a HMMWV. use that to take them down. especially if you have a few of them... they are very screwed.

Ecactly! There is none, Unless you count the AT rocket and thats a stretch. Thats why i think they should have a AA infantry kit just for those cases when there are no AA Sites or .50 cals around. Because that would unbalance the game. Have you ever flown a chopper on Sharqi? Theres missle locks all over my ass whenever i fly. A portable stinger would end up raping and discouraging the use of choppers.
unbalanced? ok, there's missle locks all over but how often do you get shot down. the locks don't even work, anytime i try to shoot down a helicopter the missles fly off into the sky not anywhere near the target. and the .50 cal overheat so quick it's just a pain in the ass. a stinger kit would be a great idea to get rid of those chopper and jet whores too because they're chances of being shot down are greater.

Clearly you are doing something wrong. When using AA you have to wait for the majority of the flares to clear and then relock on your target before firing. A good tactic is to look straight up when they flare to lose lock and then look back down to get a good relock on the vehicle, since flares fall vertically. If the helicopter is coming / going at an awkward angle they won't hit.snowman219 wrote:

You shouldn't be overheating when using a 50 cal either, you just need to watch your overheat bar, when it is close to full, hold off for literally 3 seconds to allow it to cool and then continue firing. Simple, choppers are rarely a problem when I use these methods.
I'll agree that a form of AA weaponry, Stinger for example would be nice, but it would be better suited as an AT unlock. Change the AT kit to be AA/AT, and you can pick whether you want a Eryx/SRAW or Stinger.

If a helo is base raping, there will be more than enough assets in a base to get rid of it, even if it does fly away before being destroyed. If a chopper really is baseraping, just get in a car and start pounding it with bullets. If you've got another teammate doing the same, it's bye-bye chopper. One Eryx hit usually sends them away with their tail between their legs too. Heck, even a grenade launcher does enough damage to give the pilot a scare.
As for jets, well, that's what your team is there to take care of. AA vehicles might not shoot them down, but it will keep them away (not always, you could always get bombed to death, but if you can find a good spot then a jet will usually hold off and look for easier targets)
And of course, if they're stupid enough to hang still, snipe the pilot, and watch the chopper smash into the ground. Fun times!

Yep, this game definitely needs a "shoulder launched" option of some sort. Jet pilots have it WAY too easy and are only ever really in danger if there's another good pilot on the opposing side.
Using mounted AA guns is just suicidal, when pilot is in 'bomb' mode he sees nice box/triangle around manned AA sites...
Nearly same for helos, if you man AA site in Sharqi, you will be TVmissiled in no time. And helo flares reload nearly as fast as AA missiles manage to lock again.
And if you somehow manage to shoot AA missile w/o dying in process, MISSile just misses and somehow manages to hit full friendly BH/jet/helo
