Put it into an expression that characterizes the system. 1st question.
x-x(.333)=y
x(1-.333)=y
x(.66667)=y
x=value he lost 1/3 from
y=value he started with
You'll need to do a few iterations, but this is how you would want to approach this.
So, for example, solving for x
x=y/(.66667)
x=32/(.66667)
x=47.999 = 48
And so on. Work it out for yourself so you really understand what is going on. These are really easy questions and if you're having trouble with these, you may want to study a bit more, bucause math can get incredibly difficult (Differential equations, linear algebra, calculus to name a few)

Dude, get the fuck out of here with your homework. We aren't here to help you through school you lazy sod. Learn some frigging discipline.
Don't give us that 'I'm too tired' bullshit either, you're either too lazy or too stupid to do it. I suggest you take a reality check and think very hard about what you want to do in life.
Then start applying the appropriate amount of effort to your school-work.
And really, it's not like he's asking for us to give him an answer for a Finals exam, he's just asking for a few answers. I'm damn sure that at one point in your life you asked someone else for an answer, or copied their work.
Oh, and it's not like 3/4 of the answers in the thread are right, lol. I think I saw the correct answer twice to the first problem, out of about 20 replies.

2) BlackKoala, for all you know, they gave him the answers to integral parts of a mathematical investigation worth 20% of his yearly mark, a mark which could mean the difference between his ass passing or failing and being thrown out of his house. Don't make assumptions.
3) No, I have integrity. I don't trust others with my school-work because I figure that if I'm going to fail, I'll do it my way. I. Don't. Cheat.
4) I didn't read the thread. I read the original post in the thread and decided to rant. I would have no problem with him asking for a formula to be explained or a piece of theory to be clarified, but he didn't. He asked bluntly for the answers to three specific questions that he, with a little time and effort, could have done himself. Just. Fucking. Lazy.
Edit.
Stef, cry me a river. Besides, not like I give a toss if the mods give me a temp ban, if you were a regular outside the BF2 chatter you'd probably know why.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
no, thx-damn you are dumb flecco-he already did some of it but could not manage the rest-and if you have so many problems say it in a polite way-he perhaps got stressed-and if you knew my true intelligence you idiot-go back to your cave and learn to integrate shit.

I'm guessing English is your second language, because what you wrote made little sense. Either way, if I lived in a cave would I have a PC and Internet?
No. I wouldn't. I'm not going to continue this here, no point. One last thing, I'm forgetting where I made aspersions in relation to your intelligence... I can't seem to remember ever assuming anything about you other than that, due to the fact that you are Danish, you probably learned English as a second or even third language. In which case I applaud you.

I despise cheaters, but this isn't exactly cheating. He's merely asking for some help on his homework, it was the community's choice to respond and assist him in its completion.Flecco wrote:

I really hate your kind, the self-righteous bastards who think that just because they have good moral fiber means that they are better than everyone else. No, you're wrong. One day after you realize that living a completely honest life has totally fucked you, you'd wish you had let your moral 'self' go for just a few key times.
Fuck off and die.

What else do you call it MorbiD? What exactly is it? Not self-righteous either. I just called him lazy, be it in a verbose and intentionally offensive way. Hmm... Maybe you're the one who's self-righteous, I mean here's you preaching about how my honest life will totally fucked me, which it hasn't, and how I should fuck off and die.MorbiD.ShoT wrote:

Lastly, I don't think I'm better than everybody else, but considering you have already judged me and decided I'm a dickhead, the conversation probably ends now. Don't assume things about people in future, especially when you know very little about them.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
There are entire forums dedicated to explaining how to do math and physics problems, because they can become very complex very quickly. It is undeniably important to have a complete understanding of basic algebra, and while you may not need help, others might. These sorts of problems fall into the category of setting up the problem, then "turning the crank" so to speak. Learning the setup by example is a valid learning technique.Flecco wrote:

Also, there is a lot of information we don't have about this kid-- age, grade, class level, etc... For all you know it was an ungraded practice exam assigned for homework. He said later in the thread that he already had the answers, so that scenario makes a lot of sense. Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions.
Honestly though, if this was the difference between him passing or failing and getting thrown out of his house, then I would be glad to provide solutions.

SenorToenails, I fail at maths. Hard. You did say entire forums dedicated to maths, why come here?
Lastly, yes I make assumptions, I also just said don't be lazy, something which applies no matter what his situation, in a rather long winded and offensive manner.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

hmmm...
I've seen at least a dozen wrong answers from you folks, i know where not to go for math help now...
(on that note, what is the equation for rotating a graph to create a solid? Pi(R^2-R^2)? and R is an integral of a function? Test on monday for me...)

Which advice would that be? About making assumptions? I err on the side of caution. Like I said though, you've already decided I'm a jackass by the sound of things, so no point in continuing.MorbiD.ShoT wrote:

I didn't know about PlanetMath or PhysicsForums when I was in high school, so I doubt he knew about them either.Flecco wrote:

I learned about those sites when I got to college, and full out calculus hit me. Hard.
We're done here.
