PS3 player issue

Mate of mine just bought a new PS3, and it isnt for working. He can play Blu-ray movies alright, but it will not play his game. That led me to think it was the game (disc its self), but as he has no other games to test, we cant rule that in or out.

Anyone got any other potential test's/possibilities it could be before I send him out to buy more games? Not really an expert on consoles, but personally I cannot think what else it can be put down to other than a faulty game

Really the only thing i can think of would be to return the game to the dealer where it was purchased. See if an exchanged copy works . If not, tell your mate to give sony a ring and set up an RMA i guess, or better yet just return the system to the store.

i cant help but be a fanboy too....lol.

The 360 is where its as. Especially for PC gamers going to console. Xbox Live cannot be beat for mp gaming and networking... Not to mention that 90% of games on the PS3 are also on 360 and the 360 has MUCH better exclusive titles (besides MGS4, but that will only be exclusive for awhile, trust me.)

Yes, return / exchange the game and see if it works. If not, the PS3 is probably at fault.

edit: My money's on the game, the PS3 is solid as a rock with reliability.

You could try and download some demos and see if those work, although that's not gonna test the Blu-Ray player.

i'd have thought it's the game ... although not having another PS3/Game to test upon will make things difficult

Well, I bet its the game-being the 0.2 % with a faulty PS3 is small.

and stop with that dumb thinking that MGS 4 will be on xbox 360. Its confirmed-its only PS3-ONLY-

Agreed. MGS4 is like Halo in Japan. Immensely popular (same with Final Fantasy). The PS3 is also way more popular than the 360 in Japan. And, MGS4 is made by a Japanese studio. Sony probably gives them cash to stay Sony-exclusive, but MGS and FF make a killing in Japan alone on the Playstation systems.

Heh, while I know these arent huge titles, we've seen a Defection of sorts by the Ace Combat series and team ninja. The PS3 ninja gaiden was a weak port (harder tho at the lower levels) but its very interesting to see those developers cozying up to microsoft.
