sigh...
BCS works for so many reasons, it is not going away. These bowl games draw in an insane amount of money. Hawaii has a budget of 2.2 mil per year for their football program. The bowl game they are going two will get them at least 4.2 mil...for one game. Schools will not change the system just for the fans with that kind of money involved.
Also, the BCS has people talking. People argue and have TV shows, not to mention radio and print. It generates news and interest...not to mention a shit pile of cash.
Face it, there is one way to get it to change, and that is to stop watching it. Once people stop watching, the sponsors will go away and the profits will shrink. But we all know that is not going to happen. So complain all you want, it won't do a damn thing. The only power you have is for you to stop watching games and buying merchandise. But I highly doubt that will happen.
such a buzzkill...
you don't think a tournament would raise as much, if not more, than a damn bowl game? you make some pretty good points; i'll give you that. think about it though.
Playoff system of 12 teams:
-11 game regular season
-4 Conferences play for a "Conference championship" and the winners get an automatic bye in the first round
-The remaining 8 other teams play in the first round
-Now we have 8 teams will circle seeding (1v8, 2v7, etc)
-Make the playoff games leading up to the Championship Bowls (With the 8 in the second round have the 8 teams play the Fiesta, Sugar, Orange and Rose)
-This system takes 11 bowls away from the 32 bowl series and leaves 21 bowls to pick 42 teams in the usual way
seems pretty win/win to me...
