It'd be historically innaccurate to have black soldiers in the call of duty series.  (at least, the world war 2 call of dutys)

Exactly what I was thinking, as the units portrayed aren't those that he mentioned. What does he think of Eli Vance in Half-Life though? I <3 Eli and *spoilers of Episode 2 deleted* .....

I can think of loads of games not mentioned that would shut him up. Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, DF:BHD,...well those are the only two at this point but I don't even notice or care about that wihle playing games. And I swear in the crappy Call of Duty: Finest Hour you're in a whole tank group of black people, so his claim there is disproved.

And aren't there women characters (as well as black, asian, etc) in Joint Ops?

No offense, but your friend is a fag with no life.

You can do something useful and tell him to get a life and stop him from wasting time like that.

Ok...Now I understand that racism is a big issue in America and around the world today, but when it comes to video games WTF does it matter?  If a company doesn't put an african-american/latino/any other race into their game they should NOT be considered to be racist.  I mean I know that there are some games that go way over the top such as GTA: San Andreas.  It portrays African-Americans as gangsta/ghetto Muthaf*****.  But even then, it's just a game. If it offends you then don't play.  There is no reason to ruin video games for everybody else in the world when only a fraction of people are offended by them.

There are a few games that have come closer to doing multiculturalism* right. For example, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and any game where you can make your own avatar. It goes a long way towards making everyone feel at home when you can have a hand in creating your character. America’s Army gives your avatar a random skin color along a spectrum from light to dark each time you spawn.

"Right on.". This one sentence just crashed his opinion into the sea and sank it to the bottom of a trench. He expresses his like for games that give you the choice of what you look like, but just because this one game limits your choice to two coloured people, it's suddenly a step in the right direction. So much for his multiculturalism* argument.

So, it’s clear that video games are as undeniably racist as other forms of media.

You're all morons… Why worry about what color people are in games? It’s a game! This is why racism starts! People like you complaining about shit that really doesn’t matter! "Oh well it does matter to be cause im so and so race..." Guess what, Deal with it. I never thought of racism in a game or anything. I never saw it that way. Im not racist in real life either. Yes im white btw. I just wish people like you would stfu about color. You bitch when your not in a game and you bitch when you are in a game “GTA:4″ When in the past games it was all white males doing the crimes. People, find something new to bitch about.

The people who perpetuate racism are the people who continually make efforts to spot anything that could be construed as such.

I don't care if I'm playing a "petty and small minded gangbanger", a "black Scottish cyclops" or a white guy with a gun. I'm just playing a game.

.. What? Every time the premise, storyline or geography of a game calls for the player to assume the role of a character who isn’t of white ethnicity, the game is made to match this.

Whenever the ethnicity is irrelevant to the character or the world around him, that character is usually made in the form of the stereotypical protagonist, which is a white male. The stereotypical protagonist is a white male because white people outnumber all other ethnicities in the western world put together.

It’s a logical consequence of the world we live in, and the only reason why racism persists is because causality like this is being construed as racism by people with way too little time on their hands.

Find something better to do with your time.

So what he's trying to say is, that you cannot have a character as a normal white guy without being racist....

Wait a minute...what is racism anyway? Is it just having a lack of minority characters or a lead character who is one, or is it actively doing something to harm a race of that.

And actually, now that I think about it DFBHD is not a good example and this guy would have a field day with it. For example, every single player mission, you are white and kill exclusively Somalis, who are African-----
