up untill now, I have been able to play COD4 multiplayer with no problems, other than the occasional lag spikes.

Now, it is unplayable.

When I join a server, it takes maximum 5 minutes before I get CoD4's version of "There is a Problem with your Connection", and I can't do shit unless I rejoin the server.

I don't think it is because of the router, because my brother isn't having this problem.

It happened after crapatch v1.1 or whatever.

halp?

Only thing I can think of is allowing DMZ on your router for your PC, and using a software firewall to provide protection for your PC. Open up any ports that need be opened, and maybe it'll work.

How does one DMZ a router and what ports should be opened/how sdoes one open them?

I don't know what your router is, but you'd have to go into its setup page and look around in its settings.

Only reason I'd be hesitant is that DMZing your computer without a software firewall can apparently open up your computer to computer HACKERS (who may be on STEROIDS no less)

I almost have the same problem.

I tend to slide around the place every 5 to 10 minutes.

Last night I somehow managed to lag out under the map. O.o

..So I'm off easy I guess.

I usually stop sliding after 10 seconds or so.

It used to be even worse, so some guy in here told me to put "ipconfig/release" in the DOS thingy, then "ipconfig/renew" and restart the computer.
It worked for the first few days, then I started sliding again.

..I did slide a lot less than before though.
