I don't think this is NASA's work. I think it's more a private person who's done it. I don't think NASA's got a hotmail e-mail...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

In zero gravity at that speed I doubt it hurt the cat. Goddamn animal activists crying murder over nothing..

I'm not animal activist...I'm a member of PETA (People for the eating of tasty animals), and I dont even find the cat being tossed at the wall that bad.  Perhaps it was to see if the cat would grab hold...who knows.  But they werent brutal impacts.
What bothers me about this is, a cat maintains and finds its balance, or center if you will, via fluids in a chamber in its skull.  This is how they right themselves when falling, and always (almost) land on there feet.
Know what happens to fluid in zero-G?  Thats right, it forms little spheres and wants to randomly float around...
This is why the cat was flailling around and twisting its body wildly.  The fluids in its ears were going apeshit and the cat couldnt right itself, I'm sure that was not pleasant for our little feline friend.  I'll bet it had a brutal headache after this too.

I assume a cat's semicircular canal is similar to that of a human
n the cat, as in humans, the inner ear--a bony structure of fluid-filled semicircular canals--contains a complicated mechanism for maintaining body balance.

And humans seem to do just fine in zero g, so I really do not see the "cruelty/torture" of the cat.

yeah throwing a cat into a wall isn't cruelty at all.

Although slightly cruel (even though probs didn't harm the cat at all), I have to say, lol.

Albert II, a Rhesus Monkey, became the first monkey in space on June 14, 1949, in a U.S.-launched V2 rocket. Upon return to earch, Albert II died on impact after a parachute failure.

And there are some who never came back. That cat is fortunate to have so many people to ensure it's safety during the mission.

A salute to it's Monkey cousins, the true pioneers of the stars!
