Could anyone recommend an AGP card equivalent to the nVidia 8600 GTS?

Thanks

I would guess that for the same sort of price go for a x1950.
which if you're willing to spend about £20 extra, the performance should be about the same for an excellent DX9 card.

EDIT: do you mean equivalent as in price or performance?

^^^^ yea

Imo, there is NO point buying a dx10 card that is AGP based, infact I dont see the point either in lower end dx10 tbh.  Get an x1950pro AGP dx9 card, run all your stuff fairly well, then start from scratch when you get some more cash together.

What the hell are you on about?! The X1950 is about twice and more as fast as the 8600.

Anyhow, the 7600 is about as fast as the 8600, and cost from 50-120€.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

well he was asking for an 'equivalent' not stating whether it was the price or the specs he was after.
