For those who have read both texts, is there any way you can string them together somehow?  For those who have read LotF but not Bananafish, it's a quick read.  If you could just list the themes, motifs, symoblism, etc. of either that's fine as well.

Lord of the Flies is pretty simple to understand...but Bananafish is a little complicated.  And I have to connect these two to yet ANOTHER text.  Ugh.  Help!

Original ideas, not a link to SparkNotes or something!  Even if you think it's completely wrong, post it here, because that's what I need.

Themes, motifs, symbolism?  Original ones I mean; I've already gone through SparkNotes.

What was Catcher in the Rye about?  Haven't read it yet.

Not fun when you have an extremely tough teacher in Advanced English II.  Thought this would be easy.

Yeah he does.  The boys kill Simon though, it's really sad, he was my favorite character.  You know that he represents Jesus?  (I don't believe in Jesus though)

Yea I just got done reading this book last quarter. It was "somewhat" ok. The ending could have been better, but thats all I will say about that. As for the symbolism, the book is chock full of them. Simon represents jesus, but that was a pretty obvious one. Just see how Piggy, Ralph, and the conch all relate to like law, and the order of the island. Without those, everything would fall apart. And what the author is trying to get at is that this whole fiasco is like a scaled down version of the war that was going on outside of the island, with Britain. They all relate in some way. You just got to get creative.

And if you end up watching the movie, try to get the older version. The newer version is with American kids that are part of a military school, and all they do is swear every 5 seconds, even if it doesn't sound right. lol

Thanks for the true help.  Everyone else just posted random shit, or good luck, or something like that.
