well maybe new xfi vista drivers came out, i dunno. BUT! this vista driver i have -7Oct07_ X-FI Driver- which i thought was the latest does NOT support hw acceleration! only in game you can use the Alchemy software to get it.
this custom driver has nothing to do with the official drivers. so much better
any fast way to check out the hw acceleration?

edit: never mid. I found it. had to use dxdiag.
HW Accel Level: Basic
so it supports hw

its not custom, i dont use custom drivers. its the second official xfi fatality pro series driver for vista. i think theres an option in media source to tick the hw accel. option but not sure. you can find everything ur interested in on creative's forums. admin Catherine is very nice and gives a lot of info on their forums.

Hi

Windows Vista is great! You won't regret upgrading. I play Battlefield2, Call of Duty 4 etc all fine on this system with Windows Vista! It's very nice looking, a bit safer and generally it has fixed a whole raft of problems XP had. Make the move, you won't regret it!
Your an idiot.

Yes tell someone to upgrade to a bloated OS when XP can do everything Vista can but 10x faster.

If you want nice looks, half your RAM eaten and a bloated OS then get vista.

If you want a reliable OS that isnt plauged with problems (NVIDIA driver issues, tdr errors, X-Fi sounding like crap, reduced volume, to many problems to list) then go with XP.

teh listz of problems... fixed....
reduced volume -> fixed with custom driver
creative sound card audio quality -> fixed with custom driver
driver signature - being fixed. oc programs for example got the signature thing now.
compatibility problems -> compatibility mode, eh?
ram eaten up -> more ram. 2GB costs 29$. problem fixed.
being 10x slower than xp? -> more like 5% slower
nvidia drivers -> new driver package is almost there
stability problems? -> are hardware based. no BSODs what so ever after going from nforce chipsets to x38. running 24/7.
being a xp boi -> don't buy Vista then. I'll keep using it.

... and see how I'll get flamed by XP fanbois....

no, most of the problems still arent solved. i have a legit vista bussines that i got which is laying on my table but i wont touch it. i as music enthusiast will probably never switch to vista for audio pleasures. vista is visually a good product but functionally it is not working with 100%.

It has its problems though- The contant administrator priv. requests are annoying, but you get used to them after a while, and can be turned off- but then you get the red alert balloon in the system tray 24/7.
I don't know how anyone can use Vista with UAC turned on, its annoying as f**k. Turn it off and to get rid of the alert ballon go:
Control Panel > Security > Security Centre > On the left go to 'Change the way security Centre alerts me' > Select 'Don't notify me and don't display the icon' . There you go, problem solved
You get used to it- I just click every UAC window automatically- which is stupid, cos I don't even see what the app is- it could be a virus for all i know
