Yes, this probably could go in the "Tech" section, but it's not really a computer component...so...
Anyway, I'm in the market for an HDTV. Right now I'm using a five year old 22" Magnavox flat-screen (not flat-panel) CRT television. There's nothing wrong with it. However, it's a bit small and really, it's gotten to the point where movies I watch, games I play, and even regular television I watch just doesn't look as nice as it could.
Now, I'm looking for something in the 32" to 37" range. Right now this TV is going to be my main television in the house, but when I move out and get my own place (probably in a year or two), I plan on putting it in my bedroom and buying a better television for my living room. I'm thinking about 720p since I really don't need 1080p (when I get the other TV I'll get 1080p at least) and I'd prefer if it was less than $800.
I've heard that as of right now, Sony and Samsung are the two best HDTV makers, which would make sense since Sony uses Samsung-manufactured panels. My friend has a Sony Bravia and I must say, it's a damn impressive TV. However...they're pricey. Samsungs are a bit cheaper, but I've never really used one or seen one other than in a store display.
So basically, I'm just asking for personal experiences or opinions. Do you have an HDTV? Have you used them/have experience with them? What do you recommend and why? Have you heard any bad things about certain makes or models? Do you have any complaints about yours/one you've used?
