Gran Turismo is awesome.
Its good, but it doesn't really compare with a lot of computer games...especially in force feedback.
I like LFS the best...what it lacks in number of tracks and vehicles it more then makes up for in performance.
Its also REALLY optimized for basic computers so it will run amazing on a good one.
The driving in it is amazing, while the car list doesn't hold up to some others there is a good representative of most class of car you want. How many cars do you actually drive anyways?
Most tracks have quite a few configurations too, and they even have auto cross parts where you can build your own (you can actually use the editor to place tire stacks/cones/lines on any track to make chicanes or tighten corners.)
Buy a S2 license and be happy.
Edit:
Isn't race by the ISI guys? I don't know much but I hear its a lot like the rFactor engine? I think rFactor does a great job with F1 cars and the like but it seems to keep the same sudden snap over steer. Giving it a bit of a slide through a corner is way more difficult then it should be, and it seems almost impossible to hold at times.
LFS is the opposite, but not as bad IMO...much better for street type cars and GT type cars. LFS F1 cars seem a little tame (I think because there areo model isn't complete....) but handles street, light race and GT cars MUCH better IMO.
