bf2 community still popular?

i have not played since late september after having computer and money issues
this being my first real online game i was curious to ask how long games like this stay popular enough where there are still a vast amount of populated servers (64 players)

shocked me a little a little more than a year after i got bf2, bf2142 came out. is bf2 still popular enough to get back into or is everyone switching to call of duty or bf2142............or is there another battlefield game coming out?

As you can see from this graphic, the game is still popular, even after two years - it is down from its peak, but still enjoys a solid fan-base.

bf2 is still quite popular, as is bf2142 ( not as much as bf2 though ). Yes, some ppl switched to cod4, but the majority of hardcore bf2 players stayed.

No. DICE/EA are done patching ... any updates for the future will be 3rd party mods.

Most of BF2 players stuck with BF2 when 2142. I've never played 2142 though.

The next BF for PC should be next year, probably 4th quarter for the holidays, or my b-day. Dopeness.

Some have gone to CoD4, but some of us cheapos or hardcore BF2ers stuck with BF2.

And even though the player base for BF2 has gone down, the game is still pretty packed and loads of people still play. I think it should stay like this for at least another year, maybe even 2. After that I'm sure there will still be plenty of servers around, but you may not be able to play the exact map you want at any time.

i played bf2 for ayear till bf2142 came out played that for a year than came back to bf2 ithink i like the game play better im planning to stick around for a while and so does any one Ive asked most are bringing a second or third character up thru the ranks

I've been playing COD4 only for a couple weks now, I figure I'll go back to BF2 sometime.

Our ( =A2G= ) servers have taken a hit in the last couple months but our BF2 servers are still doing OK. I think at least two of them are self-supporting through donations.

OTOH - Our Quake Wars and TF Servers seemed to bomb almost immediatley.

I have noticed the number of 64 player games has dropped significantly. Most games are around 40 players or less.

well almost all of my clan mates are playing cod4, wow and cs...
But we still play bf2, for me i ONLY play bf2 as much as before , yeah BF2 is still quite popular really many players and many servers

TBH i bought BF2 when i got bored with BF2142....

BF2 has a whole other feeling than 2142, but the latter was more fun to me...

Tbh i hate the slow ranking in BF2, it is abit lame that you have to play 200 hours to get all the game content unlocked...

~ 400 hours on BF2142
~ 150 hours on BF2
