Okay, I brought this up on the temp forum, been wondering if I'll get a bigger response here.

Who mixes (as in music)

Hopefully we can get a bit of feedback going on here.

Some of my mates are into all that mixing and grime and all that. I stay away from it. Not my cup of tea. Some of the beats they use is awwright. But that's about it.

I am in love with all forms of electronic music. I don't actually mix though I'm great at finding underground music and shit you've never heard before, but my taste is just all over the place that I wouldn't be able to put together a proper hour-long mix that stays within one genre.

I know there's software out there, but I can't stand that. I need to mix tangibly, with my own hands. I was close to buying a Midi Controller, but decided against it.

The closest thing to mixes I make is just a continuous CD that doesn't have much mixing, but there's so silence whatsoever and the tracks somewhat blend together.

I'd really like to be a producer. Styles I like are all over the place, so I might as well just create something great that I'd enjoy myself. I've tried Fruity Loops and made some decent demos, but I'm a hands-on learner, so (like with mixing) I really need to do it by hand and in real life. It would be cool if I could afford some recording equipment and a keyboard and drum machine, but that's just too much money. I would love to do it for a living, though!

I was about to get some tables but they cost too much.

I listen to jungle/dnb/hardcore/tcore/breakcore/jumpstlyle/hardstyle and all that good stuff.

Oh, and Im getting reason 4.0 soon. I have the midi keyboard and everything and I cant wait.

Yeah, I use virtual dj, "free" and fairly decent. Its not too complex, I suppose that'll limit some people, but I only do it casually, so its no biggie for me.

I find that I haven't really got a set genre that I mix with, but I do like to use DnB beats.

Atm, I'm trying to find a good combination of "heartbroken - t2" and "dry your eyes - the streets" they go pretty well in places, but others I'm not pleased with enough it to record it yet.

My current faves of mine are the eminem one and the dizzee rascal one

My mom taught me some mixing (she was a DJ..back in the day), but I only one table in my room for scratching, so I can't do much mixing wise.

Well both really, if the first is done well it can be quite good, as I said, I didn't start this to argue about the best type of mixes, just to discuss people's work. Your mum was a DJ? Man she must be cool (no sarcasm intended)
