A bad day (Or time) rant to follow up on the last one.
First - About five days ago my 12" subwoofer started making funny noises. When I opened up, the screws were all rusty, and so was the magnet. It had somehow came in moisture into the box, killing the speaker! Hooray! Since then - Until today - I've been running on a shitty 8" 80w element compared to the 200w 12" one. 400g magnev vs 1280g. 200 liter box vs 530 liter. UGH!
Later that day, mom finds it to be a keen idea to remove my monthly money (50€) for me not cleaning my room. Out of nowhere. There goes those plans on a new CPU.
The day after, my bed computer's HDD fucks up, and I have to replace it with a 20GB piece-of-shit drive. Thankfully, I managed to rescue the most important things I had on it. That night I manage to shove my beloved 50's clock radio onto the floor so the glass on the front goes to pieces. Had to replace it with a piece of plastic.
Then it's two days kind-of cool and we get two days off due to Finland's 90-year birthday. And my birthday on the 7th. I got a thermos...
Then, today, I wake up with a headache that wouldn't go away for hours. I checked the refridgetator for food. I found two microwave hamburgers - That went out on the 5th. Fuck them, the dog got them. Later tonight, mom went out for an hour or two, and I wanted to have some fun busting some old speakers I had lying around. I plug one into my 500w sub amplifier and blows it to 30Hz. That was fun. But, when I plug in the second one and press the power button, BAM! Short-circuit! The cables going from the connections to the coil had somehow been crossed. After letting the amplifier rest for an hour, I plugged it back in to notice that it works, but the sound is just horrifying. That was one 500€ amplifier fried. Shouldn't have done it on that amp.

Then, afterwards, after crying and turning the speaker to a pancake, I turn on my other stereo to listen to some music and relax. But, GUESS WHAT, somehow, the fuse for the left channel had blown, so I had to spend 20 good minutes finding a new one and putting it in. Thankfully, it works, but now I'm trapped with four 8" speakers that barely makes any noise compared to even the 8" temp sub. The only thing that gives two of them ANY resonance is a piece of cardboard sitting over the holes where the tweeters used to sit.

Piece of shit speakers. The other ones sounds almost good, but I need more power.
Then, ontop of that, mom comes home with the neighbours mail instead of our, and she gets pissed at me for pointing it out, and makes me go out in the pouring rain to put it back in the neighbours box. How the fuck could she not notice the differance between the box in the middle and the one on the far right, and the numbers 3 and 6?!
Isn't it going wonderfully good for me?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
