So I got about 1500$ to build a computer, maybe I can go up to 2000$, not sure. Anyways, I used to pay attention to tech stuff, stopped that about a year ago, cant remember much. Im looking for a computer that will last, I wanna get a good CPU, PSU, case, motherboard, and probably RAM, dont wanna end up having to replace these things for at least a year and a half, I realize that video cards usually have to replaced more often, Id really rather put it off as much as possible.

Id love to play Crysis maxed out, while I know that is impossible with pretty much every computer, I heard there are ways you can self optimize the game easily or something like that. Either way, I want the best I can get for my money, and since the only thing Ill probably be able to to replace will be the GPU and the RAM, I want the rest to have good qualities, last me 1-3 years.

PS: Im a Intel and nVidia fanboi.

PSS: Just to clear things up, Ill do this again:

CPU: Intel, one that will last and be powerful.
PSU: Powerful one, dont wanna have to worry about this.
Case: No need for a PSU as I am buying this separately, dont care what it looks like, preferably good cooling in it.
GPU: nVidia, powerful, I am willing to sacrifice on this to keep within budget, would really rather not though, it will be at least a year before I can get a better one, must be DX10.
RAM: At least 2GB, probably more like 4 if thats recommended, I also doubt I will be able to upgrade this for a year or so.
Sound Card:Not sure if this is really needed, guess I can drop this, if it can be fit in budget then thats good, I heard this improves the performance as the CPU or something like that doesnt have to do the sound.
Motherboard:Something that can hold all this stuff....
Monitor: Flat Screen, LCD, 17 inch is fine, 19 is great, doesnt really matter which, I sit close to screen.
Operating System: XP or Vista, what should I get? Can XP support DX10?

I get the feeling Im forgeting something, sorry. Well, help would be much appreciated, I give much <3 to people who help.

For a processor go Quad core, GPU 8800GTS
For RAM, depends on if you are going to use 32bit or 64 bit.

Wait until January when all the new shit comes out. That way, you can get 1) The new Q9450 2) The G92 8800 GTS 3) 4 sticks of DDR2-1066 for DIRT CHEAP and 4) An X38/X48.

I really never tell people to wait, but you said you could go up to $2000, so...

And get the Samsung 22" 2ms 226BW. I have it, and it's pure secks. Worth every penny.

And by the way, I made a completely top of the line computer (8800 GTX, E6600, 2 gigs of Patriot RAM, 680i, etc) for $2200 USD. With 2000 and if you get the G92 GTS, you'll definately be able to play Crysis on all max settings like I can.

about the screen, 2232BW is the next thing after the 226BW, and 2032BW after the 206BW.

so it would be better to go with the 2232BW rather then the 226BW

No. The 2032BW. The 22 is stretched.

Ok, sorry for being stupid, but since I havent been paying attention to the tech front for a long time, I have pretty much no clue what all these numbers and symbols mean, sorry. Also, it would probably be best to get it before Christmas, as this is my Christmas present, wait longer and I could lose the chance of getting a computer, a chance I really really dont wanna take unless there is something really worth waiting for.

Alright, considering the prices plummet, when will the plummet, December 26th or sometime in January/February? Also, since the prices plummet, can you give me a rough outline on what I will be able to afford, just taking guesses on what the prices will be.

Beginning of January. No earlier.

Isnt there better cards then the 8800GTS? I kinda thought I would at least be able to fit a GTX in at under 2 grand.

Did you read properly? The NEW G92 GTS... Not the old one... Jeez, speak before you read. The new one outperforms the GTX and the ULTRA.
