I was recently playing Battlefield 1942 for fun. When I have joined the game, I have joined German team since I been playing more on Allies then German. Once I joined the German team I choose to get in Artillery and shoot at allies. Later I asked one of my teammates to give me a target so I could shoot, but one of the teammates gave me a target to our own bunker and picture for the proof.
Omaha Beach. Loved that map. It was actually even better on Desert Combat. You could hide in the first bunker in the left and snipe all day long.
I just reinstalled 1942. I forgot how much fun flying V1s into things is
seriously this game was the funnest crap ever.
Agreed. BF1942 is awesome, particularly flying. BF2 dogfighting doesn't hold a torch to Bf1942 dogfighting.

I sucked at dogfighting in BF1942, never figured out the hit detection. That said, I freaking <3 that game. I think Im gonna go reinstall.Ty wrote:

1942 was THE best...that is the game that got me into gaming all together, so THANK YOU BF1942!!!
The Bf2 dogfighting is pretty boring when the J10 does nothing than drop flares and all the missiles go back the J10 and under and hit the ground.
The 1942 was pretty awsome no missiles evry jet was good as the other.

BF1942 part 2 w/ new graphics engine, WW2 unlocks, new maps, and some classic maps would be win. I can has EA??
I remember being a sniper and the guy in the Defguns would spam "Artillery requesting a target!" I'd spot him, and he'd go "Haha. Very funny, you fucker." I loved circle sniping (I think that's what they called it) on the bunkers. Ahhhh *reminisces*
Third edit: come to think of it, the sniper could have been spotting something on the beach, but he might have clipped the edge of the bunker instead.
Not true! The corsair had superior handling while having weaker guns, but the Zero was vice versa. I loved those moments when you'd line up the perfect burst into the cockpit, where like five shots would send the other plane in flames.TehTacoKing wrote:

Teamwork would've made that game infinitely more fun but even so, it doesn't have nearly as many things to complain about as BF2 does (well, maybe that unarmed vehicle passenger thing that got fixed in BFV). I would've loved if you got a bunch of hardcore gamers together and got a really good map of Forgotten Hope in. That mod was just plain fun to explore.
I never played FH, but I heard the FH Omaha map is HUGE. I'd be happy to join some BF2sers in some hardcore BF1942 pwnage. (Dibs on the Zero)DesertFox- wrote:

Seems like it's a good game by the posts. I started the series with bf2 so I probably missed out on the best game.
Yes, yes you did.jord wrote:

Yeah, Battlefield 1942 was, no IS great, graphics may suck, but it came out over 5 years ago. Still love that game.jord wrote:

How many servers/people still play? I might uninstall 2142 and put 1942 on instead
More then play Crysis last I heard, played it about 6 months ago and there was about 1200 servers with people in them.Ryan wrote:

Got some great memories of 1942/DC with a mate at his house. Very funny situations can arise from that, much like BF2.
Except you could be an asshat with the ships.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
let us not forget the skill of hitting a chopper with a stinger
