While trying for my basic and vet knife badge, I happened to get in a good position on an AT guy (his six), and just as I run up to him to knife him in his back, he side steps and I run right past him and miss my chance.  I instinctively turn and go prone stabbing wildly at his ankles, and when I miss again, I get up expecting many DAO pellets to end this episode.....but lo and behold, this AT guy pulls out his knife and comes at me.  We jump, side step, and dive at eachother, and at one point I know I got a good stab at him, but there is a "clink" sound and a flash of white (can your helmet make another miss a stab?  Has anyone else seen this before?).  It ended soon thereafter by a friendly with a grenade launcher TK'ing myself, but I have to say....kudos to that AT guy for making it a heart pumping 15 second knife fight. 

  I did end up getting my basic and vet badge that round, and to whoever said that getting that badge is part psychological....that's no lie.  There were 7 tickets left when I finally got the 7th kill, and I actually ended up with 9 knife kills that round.  Seeing less than 10 tickets could of easily made me go on a suicide rush to the first enemy that was near, but I remained calm, and used what was working for me that round (sneaking behind the enemy and stabbing at their back side)

i just got my expert last night. in my first round trying i got 17 kills and then finally the second round trying i got 22 kills and got it. Congrats to you though for getting your knife badges

getting my expert knife combat was some of the most fun gaming I've ever played.  Expert pistols is cool, expert explosives can be fun too, but knifing is just way too much fun. It's even better when you know how to do it well.

to answer your question:
yeah sometimes you knife someone and there's a sound but no damage. i think this is either due to lag.. or if you pay attention to bullets.. it seems possible to shoot someone's uniform without damaging em (like when you hear a bullet thud but your crosshair doesn't light up).. and if it's not a lag thing than it must be this same thing but with the knife.

i just assumed the game didn't register it as an actual hit, or it was a body armor thing.

but anyways i always pull a knife on a person who wants to stab me, gotta love those knife fights

I lucked out when I got my expert.  I got a server full of n00bs who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.  No knife fights necassary.

Bah. Honor is overrated. I'll die for my team, but I wont die because I decided to fight fair instead of blowing someone away with my automatic projectile weapon from 20 feet away. I got my expert knife badge stabbing people who had no problem shooting me, and I think everyone else should too.

I had a similar experience to the original poster last night.  I was trying to get my knife badge (basic)(didn't get it), while playing in a Karkand map.  I ran at an anti-tank guy, he sees me.  And instead of shooting me, he switches to KNIFE.  Awsome. 

So we start the little knife fight dance.  Which lasted a few seconds, jumping/side stepping/going prone and all the while stabbing.

Unfortunately, another friendly soldier rouonds the corner, sees us hopping about with knives out.  And guns down my combatant.  ARR.  I understand that he wanted the kill.  But so did I.  Couldn't he have waited to see who came out on top?

If you see two guys going at it with knives, please wait to see who dies.  Then, by all means, light up the enemy.   Thank you.
