whats adsl (or adsl2+)? im guessing its faster 1500/256kbps
We have five blocks of speed in Australia:

ADSL1
256kbps
512kbps (Bigpond no longer sell this)
1,500kbps
[1,500 - 8mb] depending on line quality

ADSL2+
[1,500 - 24mb] depending on line quality. Also known as 20mb or "ADSL2 speeds". There is only one speed on ADSL2+: Whatever you can get.

If you've been with Bigpond for more than 2 years, I would recommend looking around for a better deal. You can get Internode ADSL2 for the same price. Also look at their chart to see what speeds you'd get for your distance.

http://adsl2exchanges.com.au/ also has speed estimates and tells you which companies have installed ADSL2 tech in your exchange.

arhh still confused, so r u constantly using up ur data allowance while playing online?
Yes, every web page you look at, every thing you download and every second you are playing online you are using your data allowance. It depends on what company you are with but some places only count downloads as data usage while others count downloads and uploads. For BF2, depending on the number of people in the server and if it has voip or not, the data used is around 50-80mb per hour.

Most places wont charge you extra (but some will) for going over the data limit they will just restrict your download speed (to usually 64mbs).

Also if your ISP is one of the companies which host servers they will usually have a clause which says something along the lines, if you use our gaming servers it wont count as data use.

Bigpond offers an unlimeted deal, providing you have an ABN (Australian Business number...I think)

And to answer Your question, Yes playing games online if a massive chunk out of your data allowance, So, It's just best for you change ISP to Internode, (Australia's main gaming network) for unlimeted access to internode BF2/CSS/COD4 servers.

Forget all of this 256K BS, Just go straight for the ADSL+2 3.0mbps speed
And forget playing on US/EU servers, Not going to happen on aussie net
tazz.
